See Maisie Williams In A Mini-Skirt And Lace Heels
Maisie Williams looks fantastic in a punk-influenced outfit.
Maisie Williams may be best known for her tough, tomboyish character on Game of Thrones, but she definitely has a soft, feminine side too. In a photo posted by a fan account on Instagram, the actress stares at the camera with her chin resting on her hand as she crosses her legs and shows off delicate lace high-heeled booties. She is also wearing a short dress that shows off her enviable gams, and tops off the look with light pink hair.
Twenty-five-year-old Maisie Williams was born Margaret Constance Williams in Bristol, England. According to IMdb, she got the nickname “Maisie” from a long-running British comic strip called The Perishers, which was about a group of neighborhood kids and a dog. The comic strip version of Maisie is similar to Lucy van Pelt from the American Peanuts comic strip: she’s bossy, a bully, and absolutely adorable… in her own opinion.
While most would say that Maisie Williams’s personality is not much like that of the ink-and-paper Maisie, her family thought she resembled the character. They have all called her by that nickname since she was a toddler, to the extent that Maisie may as well be her given name.
According to Evening Standard, Maisie Williams never took any acting classes growing up, in large part because she and her family were firmly middle class. There were no “bags of money to go around,” she said. Her mother worked as a university administrator and raised her and her three siblings with her stepfather in a modest, average household.
Maisie Williams always had a knack for making people laugh, however. She may not have taken acting classes per se, but she did take a few dance lessons, which got her noticed by an agent. She lost an audition for an acting role in the sequel to Nanny McPhee, but that didn’t keep her down for long. She then auditioned for the role of Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, and the rest is Hollywood history.
Her first acting role (after just her second audition ever) was also her breakout role, and it changed her entire life. Everything became about acting, and about taking the opportunity to star in films and shows while she had the chance.
Maisie Williams’ mother caught flack from the media for allowing her to stop going to school at 14 years old and start taking lessons from tutors instead so that she could focus on her acting. She also didn’t take the test for her General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), which caused a bit of a scandal at the time.
Her mother often noted in interviews that Maisie Williams could go back to school any time she wanted, however, and she did try to go back after Game of Thrones had been on the air for a few years. Unfortunately, this didn’t prove as easy as she had hoped. The teen faced harsh bullying both online and in person and was ultimately unable to find a way to feel like she fit in.
So, Maisie Williams went back to taking lessons from private tutors and found lifelong friendships with people in her same industry, like her GOT co-star Sophie Turner. She has since acted in numerous films and has been nominated for numerous awards, including two Emmys. With success like that, who needs high school?
