English actress, Maisie Williams says Spider-Man: No Way Home was a disappointment. The Game of Thrones alum made the revelation during an episode of the Frank Film Club podcast. When asked which movie was the biggest let-down of 2021, she threw the multiverse-shattering Marvel movie under the bus.

“My biggest film disappointment of the year was the new Spider-Man. I can’t remember what it’s called. They all have really similar titles,” she said.

Explaining her dislike for No Way Home, Maisie Williams said the film just had too much going on. “They had Benedict Cumberbatch come in and play Doctor Strange. And then they had the three Spider-Men all together,” she said via CBR.

“I feel like they were just so excited to get them all on screen together that it just missed a little bit of the soul.” However, the 25-year-old did admit that she loved the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man reboot.“I will watch the next one, but No Way Home was just a little bit disappointing,” she added.

Maisie Williams is one of the film’s few detractors. Spider-Man: No Way Home received largely positive reviews, earning more than $1.9 billion at the global box office. The movie got an added boost in ticket sales when Marvel released an extended cut in theaters, which grabbed a top three position over Labor Day weekend.

Interestingly, Marvel’s latest Spider-Man offering isn’t the only project Maisie Williams is weighing in on. During a recent Twitch stream with her brother James, the 25-year-old shared her thoughts on Game of Thrones. “It definitely fell off at the end,” she admitted, after saying it started strong.

The actress, who played Arya Stark on the HBO series, also explained that for the longest time she could never see it from the outside. “I could never say that and actually understand it,” Maisie Williams said via Variety. “For the first time, it feels good to be proud of it. It was 10 years of my life.”

Reflecting on Game of Thrones earlier this year, the actress said she doesn’t think it’s healthy to miss it. “I look at it so fondly, and I look at it with such pride. Why would I want to make myself unhappy about the greatest thing that ever happened to me?” she explained, adding that she doesn’t want to associate that with sadness.

However, with a Jon Snow spinoff in development with Kit Harington, Maisie Williams didn’t entirely shoot down the possibility of playing Arya again. She told the publication that it just has to be the right time and the right people. And the story has to be right in the context of all the other spinoffs within the Game of Thrones Universe.

“It has to be the right time for me,” she added. Away from Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams has been hard at work on a few new projects. She will soon star in The New Look, an upcoming biographical drama television series created by Todd A. Kessler.

The story chronicles the life of Christian Dior in Paris after World War II. The show also features Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior, Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong, and Emily Mortimer as Eva Colozzi. It will release sometime in 2023.

Maisie Willaims also serves as executive producer on the animated short film, Salvation Has No Name. The story follows a troupe of clowns who gather to perform a story about a Priest and a refugee. But as their misguided tale unfolds, the boundaries between fiction and reality begin to fray. Written and directed by Joseph Wallace, the movie had its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on August 13, 2022.
