Empire has released images of Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5, but that is not all. We have now also been given our first look at the villainous Voller, played by Mads Mikkelsen. Looks like Indy is back at fighting Nazi scientists, as Mikkelsen has stated that his character is, “He’s a man who would like to correct some of the mistakes of the past.” The character is also said to be modeled after Wernher von Braun, who was a real-life NASA engineer who was a former member of the Nazi party.

The period when Indiana Jones 5 takes place has also been revealed, as Indy is going to be facing Mads Mikkelsen’s Voller in 1969. The premise being presented is that Indy finds out that Voller and his team were behind the moon landing, which gets under his skin, as the Nazi party is his sworn enemy. We are not sure what the moon landing will have to do with the grand plot, but there is going to be some relic that Indy and Voller are both after, that will change the course of history as we know it.

Replacing Steven Spielberg as the director of Indiana Jones 5 is James Mangold, who famously worked on Logan, Ford v Ferrari, and Walk the Line. He certainly has the directorial chops to send Harrison Ford off with the utmost dignity. Mads Mikkelsen is also a fantastic actor who should make for quite a captivating villain.

The consensus was that Antonio Banderas was going to be the central villain in Indiana Jones 5, but that role is clearly going to Mads Mikkelsen. We are not sure if Banderas’s character is going to be a friend or foe to Indy but seeing them fight side by side is surely something we all want to see. For all we know, Mikkelsen, Banderas, and Ford could all be vying for this relic.

Indiana Jones 5 will be bringing in Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Thomas Kretschmann, John Rhys-Davies, and many more. This is said to be the final time that Ford will be donning the hat and whip, which is something that is going to be bittersweet for us all. We all hoped to move past Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which ultimately led to Ford saying it would be his final time as Indy, though he has since changed his tune.

Harrison Ford needs to go out as Indiana Jones the correct way, and we are more than happy he is going to do so with stellar actors like Antonio Banderas and Mads Mikkelsen joining him. We all have to wait to see what the title of this fifth entry will be, which could be kept secret for now, as it could give hints as to what Indy will be up to. Also, we are all going to have to impatiently wait for the trailer to drop as well.

Indiana Jones 5 will officially release on June 30th, 2023. We can’t wait to see Harrison Ford’s final journey as Indy, as he attempts to stop the villainous Voller (Mads Mikkelsen) from changing life as we know it.
