Lucy Liu Reacts To Bill Murray Allegations From Other Actors
Lucy Liu recently said that she "felt sad" that other actors have had similar, negative experiences while working with Bill Murray.
It’s never a good look when stars clash behind the scenes, and it’s now apparent that this was the overall vibe on the Charlie’s Angels movie set in 2000. A recent Yahoo! article goes into the details, stating that Lucy Liu and Bill Murray were at odds with one another, and it was mostly because of the Ghostbusters actor’s unreasonable behavior. The main takeaway was that although Liu stood her ground, and her costars have since come forward with similar thoughts about Murray’s verbally abusive on-set behavior, she simply doesn’t feel good about how everything went down, and now has something to say about the slew of allegations from other actors.
“I felt sad that it happened to other people. It doesn’t make me feel validated to hear other people having bad experiences … I don’t think it’s a great feeling to have to live with that and to feel that you’re punishing yourself for something that you had no control over. I feel very grateful that people are able to speak their minds and release that because I don’t think it’s a positive energy to hold within yourself.”

Standing up for yourself when you’re being bullied is an absolute no-brainer, and according to Drew Barrymore, that’s exactly what Lucy Liu did when she was calling out Bill Murray’s behavior. Barrymore goes on to say “what you have to know is how much Lucy stood up for herself, and that was the great thing that came out of an unfortunate circumstance. She literally said, ‘I do not accept that kind of behavior from you.’ And we all supported her and backed her up and we moved forward.”
It’s sad to think that Lucy Liu and co. had such a bad experience with Bill Murray, and it’s even more disheartening to know that this seems to be a pattern of behavior for the Caddyshack star. Listen, sometimes celebrities have bad days, months, or even years, and they still have to go to work every day, which could sometimes bring out the worst in people. But this seems to be familiar territory for Bill Murray, considering that there had also been reports of his negative energy on the set of Quick Change and sexual misconduct allegations stemming from his contribution to Aziz Ansari’s now-canceled film, entitled Being Mortal.
Since Lucy Liu’s statements on Bill Murray’s overall attitude have been backed up by other stars, it makes us wonder if Murray is actually a cool guy offset, or if it’s all a form of reputation management that he does to make people think he’s a cool guy when he crashes a bar and serves tequila to everybody. Considering that Bill Murray is from the same SNL graduating class as Chevy Chase, who is also considered by many to be a notorious jerk, it’s not too far-fetched to make this kind of assumption about the star.
Charlie’s Angels was a 2000 reboot of the ’70s action-comedy TV series of the same name and starred Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Bill Murray. The clever trio of female agents was tasked with rescuing Bosley (Bill Murray) from the villainous Vivian, and they used their resources and martial arts skills to save the day. But after hearing how everything went down on the set, maybe they should have just pursued another case!
