When it premiered to audiences on Disney+ in 2021, Loki became a smash hit for the streaming service. Created by Michael Waldron of Rick and Morty and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fame, Loki is a continuation of the God of Mischief’s journeys through the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Portrayed by the ever so roguish Tom Hiddleston, the character of Loki tends to be a fan favorite of comic book connoisseurs worldwide. Now, with Loki season 2 on its way, another character will be returning to the series.
According to a report detailed by Collider, the character of Casey has been confirmed to be featured in Loki season 2. Casey is played by American actor Eugene Cordero in the first season of the show, initially starting out as a receptionist at the Time Variance Authority, or TVA. Casey is responsible for filing evidence at the TVA, but by the end of the first season, a variant of Casey becomes Hunter K-5E and is partly in control of protecting the sacred timeline.
Loki season 2 has started filming, after Loki became the first live action Marvel series on Disney+ to earn a second season, according to The Direct. With the return of several characters from the first season, Casey may be one of the most interesting inclusions in the ongoing story of the TVA. Originally presented to viewers as a paper pushing employee of the TVA who has lived his whole existence in an office behind a desk, he is often the butt of many of Loki’s jokes and musings, including the fact that Casey wasn’t aware of what a fish was until Loki threatened him with one. The various incarnations of Casey may be on full display in the second season.
The first season of Loki ended on a sort of cliffhanger with the introduction of the aforementioned sacred timeline. Loki season 2 may begin where the first season ended, as it was revealed that the multiverse is real and Loki had found himself in another version of the TVA. The role of Casey may become a larger one in season 2, as he is now a variant in another universe, but that is pure speculation at this point as the full plot of season two has yet to be confirmed. Regardless of the situation, it will be interesting to see variants of likable characters come to fruition within the series.
With the success of the first season of Loki, season 2 is sure to be an incredible trip down a rabbit hole of interdimensional fun. Joining Hiddleston and Cordero in the second season will be Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains, which is apparently a variant of Kang the Conqueror. Majors’ character appears at the end of the first season and will be a major character driving the plot of the upcoming second season. As of now, IMDB isn’t showing any other actors reprising their roles in the newest season, although Owen Wilson’s TVA Agent Mobius has been confirmed by NME as returning. While still filming, Loki season two currently does not have a release date.
