Lindsay Lohan’s New Movie Is Number One On Netflix

The story revolves around Lindsay Lohan and her character Maddie. The love of Maddie’s life gets engaged to her best friend. Still, she puts her feelings aside to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland (For those in the know, this is a lot like the plot of 2008’s Made of Honor starring Patrick Dempsey.).

Days before the couple is to marry, Maddie makes a wish (hence, Irish Wish) for true love. The next day, she ends up waking up and is the bride-to-be. Her wish came true, but Maddie soon realizes her real soulmate is actually someone else.

If the plot doesn’t have you diving for your record to put on Netflix, you’re not alone. Irish Wish only has 39 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a 42 percent audience score. Randy Myers from San Jose Mercury News wrote, “This disposable, fantasy-light Netflix rom-com … is stridently forgettable.”

However, the critic also wrote of Lindsay Lohan’s “charms”. Marya E. Gates from RogerEbert.com says, “[Lohan] is an undeniable star and has always succeeded as a screwball comedienne.” According to Johnny Oleksinski from the New York Post, “Lohan is her usually charming self throughout.”

Reading these reviews, you get the impression that although the movie may not be good, Lindsay Lohan makes it worth the watch. Irish Wish runs 1 hour 33 minutes and also stars Ed Speleers (Star Trek: Picard), Alexander Vlahos (Outlander) and Ayesha Curry (actress and Steph Curry’s wife).

Irish Wish is the follow-up to Lindsay Lohan’s 2022 Netflix holiday rom-com Falling for Christmas. That movie marked her first role in a major production in more than a decade and came eight months after Netflix announced Lohan had also signed a two-picture creative partnership with the streamer.

Lindsay Lohan was a child star who continued to shine into her teens with cult-classic films like Mean Girls and Freaky Friday. Speaking of the latter, Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are expected to share the screen again for the highly-anticipated Freaky Friday follow-up.

However, Lindsay Lohan’s life in the spotlight has not been without controversy. The now 37-year-old experienced a turbulent few years, with a string of drink-driving arrests, multiple court appearance and stints in rehab. According to Newsweek, by 2012, Lohan had appeared in court 20 times and completed five stays in rehab and six incarcerations. Lohan’s legal issues made it difficult for movie producers to insure her and her career suffered.

In 2014, Lindsay Lohan moved to Dubai and started living a relatively quiet life. She married financier Bader Shammas in 2022 and they had a son in 2023.

Lindsay Lohan’s comeback includes both her professional and personal lives. Irish Wish is on Netflix now and her next project, Our Little Secret is expected to be released this year as well.
