Liam Neeson Won’t Return To His Best Role
Liam Neeson says he has no interest in returning to the role of Ra's al Ghul in a Batman movie.
After making two runs as the notorious villain, Ra’s al Ghul in both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises, Liam Neeson says it’s time to call it quits. CBR.com reports that the actor has no interest in reprising the role, stating that he had already done it and, for him, it was time to move on. Unfortunately for fans, they can not expect to see Liam Neeson in The Batman – Part II.
Liam Neeson’s past Batman films were directed by Christopher Nolan. The Dark Knight trilogy follows a different continuity from The Batman and the upcoming sequel. Because of that, Neeson feels like he has already played the role he would take in the film.
The actor filmed alongside Christian Bale in Batman Begins and, apparently, for the star that will be enough. He has made it clear he has no intention of reprising his role as Ra’s al Ghul. The actor noted that he didn’t think of the antagonist as a villain, and noted his intentions fell on trying to restructure a world that needed it.
While we can’t ever be truly certain of why Liam Neeson won’t join the crew for The Batman – Part II, fans will have to look elsewhere for their next Ra’s al Ghul. Many are anxiously waiting to see what director Matt Reeves has in store.
The Batman – Part II is set to release in October of 2025 with production for the film already well underway. Robert Pattinson can be expected to fill the role of Batman in the film. Matt Reeves is known for his gothic installments in Batman’s legacy.
