Last Voyage Of The Demeter Reveals The Scariest Dracula In Years
Dracula has remained an affixture in Hollywood for nearly a century, with filmmakers trying to one-up each other for the scariest and most ghoulish version. So far this year, we saw Nicolas Cage as a campy Drac in Renfield, and Robert Eggers is currently knee-deep in production for his spin on Nosferatu. But, in August, true fear will take hold as the most terrifying blood-sucker we’ve seen in years takes center stage in the upcoming film The Last Voyage of the Demeter and, in a picture that you can see below, Fangoria has revealed a close-up of the bloodthirsty monster.
While in recent years, many directors have decided to give Dracula a human-like appearance, casting handsome and well-known actors in the role of the Prince of Darkness, The Last Voyage of the Demeter is going full speed ahead into demonic monster territory.
Fangoria previews the terrifying new Dracula appearing in The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
Set to be the cover of the magazine’s latest issue, the Dracula in this picture is anything but debonair as he looks like a beast straight out of your craziest nightmare. Mouth open, we can see razor-sharp teeth ready to sink into flesh while a thin, purple hand holds onto the severed head of his latest victim.
Known for his roles and character acting in films including Slender Man, The Conjuring 2, Crimson Peak, It, Insidious: The Last Key, and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Javier Botet will be taking on the unnerving role of Dracula.
With this pic, there’s no doubt on our end that André Øvredal is going in guns a’blazin with his chance at bringing Dracula out of the grave and onto the titular ship.
Haunting in appearance, Fangoria’s image is not only a jump scare in and of itself but also teases that The Last Voyage of the Demeter will be packed with plenty of scenes that go bump in the night with the hollow face of the famed vampire lurking around every corner.
Billed as an adaptation of “The Captain’s Log,” a chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel, Dracula, The Last Voyage of the Demeter follows the unfortunate crew aboard the titular merchant ship who find themselves being hunted and picked off one by one by the legendary Dracula.
