Krysten Ritter Returning As Jessica Jones For Daredevil Series?
Krysten Ritter posted some gym photos, sparking speculation that she is returning as Jessica Jones in the new Daredevil show, as she is wearing a Daredevil shirt.
Krysten Ritter has been posting gym photos on social media, adding fuel to the fire regarding a rumored appearance as Jessica Jones in the upcoming Daredevil revival series, Daredevil: Born Again. According to a report from The Direct, the Netflix Defenders star has long been rumored to return to the MCU in the new series, with no direct confirmation at this time, but these new photos (one of which you can see below) are certainly a tease for the fans. This will be the first we’ve seen of Jessica Jones since the cancellation of her Netflix series back in 2019 following the conclusion of its third season.
Daredevil: Born Again will air on Disney+ and serve as a continuation and soft reboot of the Netflix Daredevil series which introduced Charlie Cox as the titular hero. Many fans tuned into the Netflixverse to see the Avengers-style team-up of The Defenders back in 2017, merging the forces of Finn Jones’ Iron Fist, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones alongside Daredevil. Once Disney+ came out and Marvel discontinued its television streaming deal with Netflix in favor of its own in-house streaming service, it seemed that the existing Netflix shows would be wiped from the canon and the characters would be recast.
That is until Charlie Cox appeared in the MCU during a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as Peter Parker’s expertly dexterous lawyer, freeing Peter of legal charges which would see him responsible for the death of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, as seen in 2019’s Far From Home. This at least cemented the ongoing fate of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil within the MCU, leaving fans to speculate whether we’d see Krysten Ritter return to the character of Jessica Jones within the franchise. These new gym photos seem to suggest that Ritter is training to get her superhero muscles ready for the screen.
Krysten Ritter’s workout routine alone wouldn’t be enough to suggest a return, as the Jessica Jones actor has been seen numerous times in the gym since taking to a stringent workout routine to play the super-powered character over 7 years ago. However, these latest photos depict Ritter sweating it out in a Daredevil “Choose Justice” shirt, sparking a chorus of excited theories from speculating fans. Recent rumors suggested Ritter would have scheduling conflicts preventing her from reprising her role as Jessica Jones in the upcoming Disney+ series Echo, with talks stating that Jon Bernthal may be in the mix to return as The Punisher in her place instead.
Even if it’s just a small cameo instead of a major arc, Krysten Ritter’s return performance would almost certainly be universally welcomed by MCU fans, as the Breaking Bad star’s breakout role was a fan favorite of the many Netflix Marvel series produced throughout the 2010s. These rumors have left fans to scour her Instagram for crumbs of clues leading to her return. With Charlie Cox joining the film canon of the MCU, as well as Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, and others expected to arrive in the Disney+ Daredevil: Born Again, we’re sure there are some happy surprises around the corner.
