SpongeBob Krabby Patty Is About To Get Official Release
A delectable staple from the popular Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants is about to become a real-life offering from one of America’s most beloved fast-food chains. Information on Reddit taken from what is believed to be a leaked internal memo from the Wendy’s Corporation gave details on the burger chain’s upcoming (and unannounced) Krabby Patty meal. If the memo’s tellings hold true, fans of the cartoon will be able to enjoy the new sandwich on October 8 of this year.
Wendy’s New Sandwich
The Krabby Patty meal will be a gimmick to honor the 25th anniversary of the children’s cartoon, which made its debut on the family network Nickelodeon in 1999. The memo described Wendy’s Krabby Patty as a “premium cheeseburger” made from the chain’s long-standing offering of “fresh, never frozen beef.”
The burger will be topped off with fresh greens and other produce as well as an additional layer that is meant to set it apart from the other burgers on the Wendy’s menu.
The Krabby Patty
The upcoming burger release will include a secret Krabby Patty sauce, meant to capture the “magic of the iconic fictional sandwich.” The menu will also offer a variation on another classic Wendy’s menu item, the fast-food giant’s frozen dessert treat known as the Frosty.
The “Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty” is meant to pay homage to SpongeBob SquarePants‘ home and will be a vanilla milkshake with a special pineapple-mango puree mixed into the Frosty.
The Memo
Fans of SpongeBob SquarePants who want to try these two menu items will likely have a small window of time to coat their palettes with cartoonish goodness. The memo seemed to detail a limited time run for both the Krabby Patty meal and the “Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty,” ending the promotion on or around November 11.
The leaked memo also made mention that Wendy’s will be working with Nickelodeon‘s parent company, Paramount Pictures, to bring the promotion to the forefront with American consumers. Fans in Canada and Guam will also be able to partake in the special, limited time menu items within the same date range.
SpongeBob SquarePants
Whether or not this move will signal Wendy’s to offer more items based on popular SpongeBob SquarePants characters remains to be seen. But the vast fan base of the popular cartoon series might well enjoy tie-ins with Patrick, Mr. Krabbs, Plankton, and Squidward, should the opportunity ever arise.
SpongeBob SquarePants was the brainchild of marine scientist/animator Stephen Hillenburg, who also served as the cartoon’s showrunner from its inception in 1999 until 2004 and again from 2015-2018.
The show’s title character and his misadventures with his starfish friend Patrick and squirrel friend Sandy delighted children and gave adults plenty of laughs over 14 seasons and more than 300 episodes. An upcoming 15th season was announced in the fall of 2023.
SpongeBob’s Work
SpongeBob works at the Krusty Krab, an underwater restaurant which serves up the Krabby Patty that Wendy’s is basing its new menu item on.
The cartoon stars Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, and Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks.
