Two Marvel Stars Unite For New True Crime Movie
Although they may have appeared in different parts of the multiverse, both Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum have entrenched themselves in Marvel lore, and now they’ll be teaming up on a project. And, while we wish we were delivering you some sort of weird Spider-Man and Gambit crossover, sadly, that isn’t the case. But, it’s the next best thing as the pair will join forces in Derek Cianfrance’s (The Place Beyond the Pines) latest project, a true crime feature titled Roofman.
Kirsten Dunst And Channing Tatum
The stranger-fiction tale centers around the very real life of Jeffrey Manchester, a robber whose MO was to break into more than 60 different McDonald’s locations overnight by busting through the roof and then hiding out to wait for the staff.
Once the employees came in for the opening shift, he would gather them in the walk-in and gain access to the cash registers.
The movie will see Kirsten Dunst playing Manchester’s love interest with Channing Tatum starring as the dashing burglar.
A Crazy Romance
But wait, because there’s so much more to Jeffrey Manchester’s story than the robbing aspect as the characters, played by Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum, developed a crazy romance that seems too wild to believe.
While being held up for a robbery by anyone isn’t ideal, if you were to find yourself in that position, Jeffrey Manchester would likely be the person you’d pick as your burglar. Calm, quiet, and courteous, Manchester, who had a background as a U.S. Army Reserve officer, quickly earned the nickname “Roofman” and was known for almost never turning violent with his captives.
Broke Into More Places
So, how will Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum’s paths cross in the true crime feature? Following his conviction in 2000, Manchester was hauled off to jail, only to break out from behind bars and use his know-how to fly under the radar while squatting at a Toys ‘R Us and Circuit City store in North Carolina.
Riding bikes to keep his legs in shape and eating baby food to keep his calories up, Manchester was able to evade capture for months until his fingerprints appeared on a DVD copy of – ironically – Catch Me If You Can.
Such A Weird Love Story
For her part in the bizarre and somehow true story, Kirsten Dunst will appear as a single mom who works at Toys ‘R Us and crosses paths with Channing Tatum’s Jeffrey Manchester.
By the time they actually met, Jeffrey had been posted up inside the stores for a while, having already developed feelings for the clerk from afar. Captivated by his presence, Dunst’s character quickly reciprocates her pursuer’s feelings and continues to carry on a relationship with him even after she discovers the truth.
Fantastic Careers
Both Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum have had successful years for their careers with the former appearing in Alex Garland’s heavy A24 flick, Civil War.
Meanwhile, Channing Tatum appeared opposite Scarlett Johansson in Fly Me to the Moon, finally stepped into his dream role as Remy LeBeau, aka Gambit, in this summer’s blockbuster hit Deadpool & Wolverine, and also starred as an absolute creep in Zoë Kravitz’s Blink Twice.
