Kim Kardashian Will Be In American Horror Story And Actors Are Furious
Kim Kardashian will be in American Horror Story and series regular Patti Lupone hates everything about it.
Kim Kardashian is something of a polarizing figure. She has gained fame from her reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, along with her marriage to former productive member of society Kanye West, but she’s often the target of ridicule from non-fans. After American Horror Story announced that Kim Kardashian would be appearing in Season 12 of the show, actress Patti Lupone and actor John Leguizamo voiced their anger in an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
According to Patti Lupone, who appeared in Beau is Afraid and both seasons 3 and 11 of American Horror Story, Kim Kardashian landing a role on the show takes the role away from real, actual actors — something that Lupone does not consider Kardashian to be. She asked Kim what she’s doing with her life and told her, “Don’t get on the stage, Mrs. Worthington,” a rather obscure reference to a 1935 song by singer Noel Coward. John Leguizamo, known for voicing Bruno in Encanto and the original Luigi in the Super Mario Bros. movie, echoed Lupone’s sentiment, pointing to Lupone and saying, “Whatever she said, I double the emotion!”
The question about Kim Kardashian’s role in American Horror Story was raised as part of Andy Cohen’s segment “Do! They! Give a Damn!?” The segment lists several current events and asks the guests whether they give a damn about the subject.
Kim Kardashian’s new acting gig was one of the few subjects that the guests cared about on the show. Both guests also expressed interest that someone is allegedly pooping in the aisles of Broadway musicals, with the most recent pooping incident being next to Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea. The only other subject that gained interest was that Prince Harry attended his father’s coronation without his wife Meghan Markle by his side, something Lupone did not care about, but John Leguizamo did.
The appearance in American Horror Story will be the first time that Kim Kardashian will star in a scripted TV series, but it’s not the first time that the reality TV star has acted. She played herself in the 2018 Ocean’s Eleven spinoff Ocean’s Eight, along with brief appearances in Paw Patrol: The Movie, 2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother, and American Dad. Her first role was playing Lisa in the horrible 2008 “comedy” Disaster Movie.
Kim Kardashian’s role in the upcoming season has not yet been made clear, but we do know that the season, titled Delicate, will be based on the upcoming 2023 novel Delicate Condition. The novel follows a woman who believes that someone is trying to sabotage her attempts to get pregnant via in vitro fertilization. When doctors tell her she has had a miscarriage, she becomes convinced that they are lying and that she is still pregnant — though perhaps not with something human.
Season 12 of American Horror Story will debut in October 2023, just two months after Delicate Condition goes on sale. The season will star Kim Kardashian alongside recurring American Horror Story actresses Billie Lourd and Leslie Grossman, and actor Denis O’Hare.
