Kevin Spacey Is Planning His Hollywood Comeback
Kevin Spacey is publicly discussing a return to working in big movies.
Is the world ready for Kevin Spacey to return to Hollywood? Because he might just make his return after being canceled for years due to several sexual misconduct allegations. The actor is feeling optimistic that he will not be found guilty of his most recent allegations and that he will make his comeback to the big screen, according to Deadline.
In 2017, Kevin Spacey was first accused of sexual assault and sexual battery against a 14-year-old child, Anthony Rapp. After that, the floodgates opened, and fifteen other young men (including filmmaker Tony Montana, Richard Dreyfuss’s son, and eight crew members from House of Cards) came forward to accuse the actor of inappropriate sexual behavior against them as well. After successfully evading the previous allegations, Kevin Spacey is set to go to trial in London on June 28 for several other sexual misconduct charges made by young men.
Despite the many allegations against him, Kevin Spacey feels confident that he will be able to make his return to Hollywood without any problems if he is found not guilty of the crimes. Currently, he understands that people do not want to be associated with him because they will also be “canceled” by association. If the charges against him are cleared, then he claims that several people will immediately want to work with him.
Before Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct, he had a very successful acting career in which he earned four Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and even got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1999. One of his most famous roles was that of Verbal in The Usual Suspects (1995), a seemingly crippled man caught up in a criminal shoot-out orchestrated by the notorious Keyser Söze. Kevin Spacey is also well known for his role as Frank Underwood in the hit TV show House of Cards but was let go from the sixth season of the series after his many sexual allegations came to light.
Since the allegations, Kevin Spacey has appeared in a few films, including Billionaire Boys Club and The Man Who Drew God. Later this year, three other films of his are set to be released with him as the lead: Gore, Control, and Peter Five Eight. While it’s impressive that a canceled actor can still find work, these projects are much smaller than the House of Cards star is used to receiving.
In addition to these smaller films, Kevin Spacey has also taken to YouTube to share his own strange videos with the world. Some of the videos feature him portraying the character of Frank Underwood from House of Cards as he implores that Kevin Spacey is innocent of his alleged crimes. Viewers have found the videos to be eerie and disturbing, to say the least.
It will be interesting to see if Kevin Spacey can actually find work after the trial is over, and if so, what sort of projects he will work on. Either way, he has gone on record saying that “his work will live longer than he will” and that it will be remembered far longer than his reputation.
