Kevin James Is Starting A Fan Club For One Of Most Popular Fantasy Series Of All-Time
Kevin James wants to start a weirdly specific fan club!

When you think of Twilight fans, the picture that forms in your mind may not resemble Kevin James. But, apparently, the King of Queens star likes his fantasy romance just like the next dad. Or, you know, as much as he hopes other dads are into Twilight. In a recent interview about his new Netflix movie Home Team, James confessed he wants to make a Twilight fan club just for dads.
Kevin James and his Home Team costar Taylor Lautner were chatting with Screen Rant about their new sports comedy when Lautner — who plays the werewolf Jacob in the Twilight films — brought up the subject of fandom. Lautner said that some of the most passionate fans of the fantasy romance series come from Twi-Moms, a group of Twilight fans who are also moms. Lautner suggested that James “should start the Twi-Dads.” James seemed enthusiastic and asked if he actually could do that. Lautner answered, “Yeah, you can be like the president of them.” Probably surprising a lot of Kevin James fans, the comedian said, “I’m officially doing that right now. I’m not even kidding. I am officially now putting it down and we are going to work on it.”
Perhaps it shouldn’t be a shock Kevin James — a father of four — is a Twilight fan. While few of his live-action projects have had anything to do with monsters, he provided the voice of Frankenstein for the first three installments of the Hotel Transylvania animated film series. And hey, as Frankenstein — who is neither a vampire nor a werewolf — he arguably has an unbiased, balanced viewpoint in the whole Edward vs. Jacob thing.
In fact, we know of at least one guy Kevin James might want to call to get the ball rolling on Twi-Dads. And, as luck would have it, he has a lot in common with James. They’re both well known comic actors. Parks & Recreation fans may have already guessed we’re talking about Will Forte of MacGruber fame. Forte makes only one appearance on Parks & Recreation but it’s pretty memorable. In season 3’s “Time Capsule,” Forte plays Kelly Larson, a father so passionate about including copies of the Twilight books in Pawnee’s new time capsule that he handcuffs himself to a pipe in Leslie Knope’s (Amy Poehler) office.
We ultimately learn that Larson is mainly making waves about the Twilight books to impress his daughter. But in the process he gets half of the office on his side, including converting the initially hostile Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) into a fan. Of course, Forte was just playing a character on the workplace comedy, but who knows? Maybe working on the show and having to say all those glowing things about Stephenie Meyer’s books turned him into a fan by osmosis? Maybe Kevin James should give him a call.
Speaking of Kevin James and monsters, while Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania debuted last month on Amazon Prime Video, you won’t hear Kevin James’ voice in it, or that of his buddy Adam Sandler, in spite of both voicing characters for the first three films. Frankenstein is now being voiced by Brad Abrell (Men in Black), while Adam Sandler has been replaced by Brian Hull (Tangled: The Series). According to IGN, while no official reason for their absences has been released, there is speculation James and Sandlers’ film deal with Netflix is the main reason.
