Kevin Hart’s Latest Film Is Already A Massive Success
Kevin Hart's Die Hart: The Movie debuted as #1 on Amazon Prime Video.
If you like movies where actors play themselves, then you’d probably like Kevin Hart’s Die Hart: The Movie. The film debuted at #1 on Amazon Prime according to FlixPatrol and features Hart playing a version of himself trying to become an action star. You can check it out on the Amazon Video streaming platform now if that sounds like a good time to you.
Kevin Hart first debuted his Die Hart concept in a TV series on the now-defunct Quibi platform, which had most of its content scooped up by Roku. The first season of the series saw Hart’s character attending a school run by Ron Wilcox (John Travolta) to become one of Hollywood’s top action stars. Along with Hart and Travolta, the season starred Nathalie Emmanuel, Jean Reno, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Trujillo, and more.
Die Hart: The Movie refashions the first season of the show into a movie format, so it’s a great way to catch up or see the series for the first time ahead of the upcoming second season. The Kevin Hart-led action-comedy film is directed by series director Eric Appel and written by series writer-creators Derek Kolstad and Tripper Clancy.
Die Hart 2: Die Harter will be the second season of the series, which will add John Cena, Ben Schwartz, and Paula Pell to the cast. The second season will see Kevin Hart’s character attempting to cement his action star movie career with an off-the-wall concept, but soon finds himself in the middle of a real revenge plot. The Roku original series is set to return on March 31 and recently released a new trailer.
While you wait for season two, Die Hart: The Movie is presumably a more succinct way to catch up on the movie. The first season was 10 episodes, so watching a movie that clocks in under an hour and a half might be a little easier. Of course, if you want to watch the first season of the Kevin Hart series in its entirety you can do it on the Roku Channel.
The Kevin Hart-led Die Hart series actually got some decent critical attention for its first season, nabbing three Emmy nominations including Outstanding Actor In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series for both Hart and John Travolta and Outstanding Actress In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series for Nathalie Emmanuel.
Its unfortunate debut on the Quibi platform is why it probably didn’t get as much attention as it might have otherwise. It makes sense that they decided to make this condensed movie for Amazon Prime, as it will probably drum up hype before the upcoming second season and get people to tune in.
The strategy seems to be working for now, as the #1 debut on Amazon Prime definitely means people are interested in the series. We’ll just have to wait and see if that excitement translates to people tuning in to check out the second season on Roku. make sure to stay tuned for more information on Die Hart Season 2 and all of Kevin Hart’s upcoming projects.
