See Kevin Hart Train With John Travolta In Hilarious Die Hart Trailer
The new trailer for Kevin Hart's Die Hart movie is here, and it shows the comedian training with John Travolta.
Amazon Prime Video has released a trailer for the action comedy Die Hart starring Kevin Hart, and the clip opens with a fictionalized version of the actor being told that a major movie director wants to meet with him. Having dreamed of being an action star, he quickly agrees, but there’s one small catch— to prepare for the role, Hart has to attend action-hero school.
Training is led by Ron Wilcox (John Travolta), the toughest man in show business, who pushes Kevin Hart to new extremes. To become the perfect action hero, the aspiring star also works with another trainer (Nathalie Emmanuel) who helps him master the art of hand-to-hand combat. The trailer also offers a look at Josh Hartnett’s character without revealing any details about his role in the story.
Die Hart is a condensed version of the 10-episode series of the same name which aired on Quibi in 2020. The story follows a faux version of Kevin Hart who wants to prove that he’s more than just a comedy sidekick. After being offered a career-changing opportunity, the actor aims to become the industry’s most coveted action star under the tutelage of a ruthless trainer.
After Roku picked up the rights to Die Hart when it acquired Quibi, the streamer began working on a series called Die Hart 2: Die Harter. According to Deadline, the new project does not feature Kevin Hart. Instead, the story will see John Cena take the lead alongside Ben Schwartz and Paula Pell, but there is no release date for the series at this time.
Meanwhile, the re-imagined Die Hart movie is helmed by series director Eric Appel who previously worked on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The script was penned by series writer/creators Derek Kolstad and Tripper Clancy. The movie will be released via Prime Video on February 24th, while fans in South Africa will be treated to screenings in select cinemas after Kevin Hart visits the country for a standup tour.
Speaking about Die Hart, Director of Content Acquisition at Prime Video, Chris Mansolillo said the studio truly loves this movie and can’t wait to share it with their subscribers. “Kevin Hart is one of the world’s most talented entertainers and we’re so pleased to work with him and Hartbeat to be the exclusive home for this brilliant film,” he said via Deadline.
Hartbeat’s Chief Distribution Officer and Die Hart producer, Jeff Clanagan shared the sentiment telling Deadline his team is excited to collaborate with Prime Video to share a new version of the Kevin Hart-led story with fans in a feature-length film. “Die Hart has become a powerhouse franchise for Hartbeat and an incredible crowd-pleaser that unites audiences around the world through laughter,” he continued.
Interestingly, several original Kevin Hart films created for streaming services like Netflix have not fared well with critics. However, Die Hart the series was the exception. The comedy series still holds an 80% average on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Hopefully, it’s a sign that the movie will do better than the comedian‘s previous projects.
