Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone Was The Most Watched Show Of Last Week
Kevin Costner is an acting legend who could retire tomorrow and still be considered one of the greats. He’s been a part of blockbuster after blockbuster, and he’s not stopping anytime soon. Neither is his success, especially when it comes from the TV show Yellowstone. The drama TV show can be described as popular, but that would be an understatement.
As reported by outlets such as Vulture and The Hollywood Reporter, the number of viewers Kevin Costner’s show had last week was astounding. It’s reported that the show averaged 8.1 million viewers during its season premiere. The fact that the show had a two-episode season premiere makes it more impressive.
However, Vulture states that when the season premiere of the Kevin Costner series is looked at closer, the numbers are even bigger. The website explains that the Yellowstone season premiere wasn’t just shown on the Paramount Network channel, it was shown on three other channels: TV Land, CMT, and Pop. Vulture states that when the viewership of these different channels is combined, last week’s Yellowstone episodes were watched by more than 11 million viewers.
The two newest episodes were the season 4 premiere of the show, which debuted back in 2018. The series follows the Dutton family as they protect their ranch, one of the biggest in the country. Kevin Costner stars as the head of the family, John Dutton. Other actors in the show include Luke Grimes (Kayce Dutton), Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), and Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton). Before Yellowstone, Luke Grimes was known for his roles in films such as American Sniper, the 50 Shades of Grey series, and The Magnificent Seven.
Kelly Reilly has also appeared in numerous projects that include the Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes films, Flight, and the second season of HBO’s True Detective. Wes Bentley plays Jamie Dutton, another member of the family. He’s had roles in popular films such as Interstellar, The Hunger Games, and Mission: Impossible-Fallout. He’s also had different roles in the anthology TV show, American Horror Story.
Not only is the cast star-studded but so is the crew behind it. The show was created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. Linson is experienced in producing shows, and was previously the executive producer of the crime drama Sons of Anarchy. Sheridan, the co-creator of Yellowstone, is no slouch either. He wrote the Sicario films, Hell or High Water, and 2021’s Those Who Wish Me Dead. He also directed films like Vile and Wind River.
With the amount of talent the show has such as Kevin Costner, Taylor Sheridan, and the others mentioned, it’s not surprising the show is popular. On the other hand, with the continuous decline of cable TV, it’s hard to not be surprised by a show doing so well.
Yellowstone isn’t the only show to keep an eye on. There are cool TV shows out there, some that haven’t even been released yet. This includes shows such as the Marvel Zombies show and the Spider-Man animated series, both coming to Disney+.
