Kevin Costner Hasn’t Even Met One Of Yellowstone’s New Cast Members
Despite being on set on the same day, Kevin Costner has yet to meet Yellowstone co-star Orli Gottesman.
As Yellowstone fans will know, the show’s current fifth season has been embroiled in controversy surrounding the schedule of John Dutton himself – Kevin Costner. And, although it’s all for understandable reasons as the actor has been working on another project near and dear to his heart, Kevin Costner’s new-to-the-series co-star, Orli Gottesman, has confirmed that although she’s appeared in a handful of episodes, she’s never “formally met” the Dances with Wolves star. During an interview with Taste of Country, the actress, who joined the cast in Season 5 as Carter’s (Finn Little) love interest Halie, says that despite being on set on the same day as the show’s leading man, she’s never been introduced to him.
Speaking about that fateful day when she spotted Kevin Costner, Orli Gottesman says that she “wouldn’t have ever known that he was on set” had she not witnessed it with her own eyes. Apparently, the star stays pretty distanced from the rest of the cast and crew, with Gottesman revealing that not only does he have his “own trailer,” but that he also keeps to himself on “his own section of the mountain or whatever.” Staying out of everyone’s “business” and keeping them out of his own, the actress says that Costner waits for the go-ahead to start filming his specific scenes before making his way to the set, doing his job, and going back to the sweet solitude on his secluded section of the lot.
A legend in the world of entertainment, Kevin Costner would be a dream actor to see your name appear next to on a call sheet, with Orli Gottesman saying that she’ll “hopefully” be able to introduce herself or even share a scene with Costner “one day.” Currently, the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves star is burning the candle at both ends, as he’s double booked with filming the second half of Yellowstone’s fifth season while also writing, producing, directing, and starring in a Western film series of his own titled Horizon. Because of this, the star has been dealing with long days and overlapping schedules, which ultimately will lead to less screen time in the back half of Season 5, which in turn has led many fans to speculate on the possible death of John Dutton and a wrap on the celebrated Paramount production.
The end of the first half of Season 5 landed on New Year’s Day, with many fans eager to see what would happen next for the Dutton family now that John Dutton has successfully claimed the throne – er title – of Governor of Montana. With enemies surrounding them from all sides and some even lurking within the family tree, John, Beth, and the rest of the Dutton clan will need to watch their backs if they have any hope for survival. Kevin Costner, Orli Gottesman, and the rest of the cast and crew recently returned to work on Yellowstone, with Costner managing to cut down his on-set filming time from 65 days to 50 days, meaning that regardless of the possible kill-off of his character, there will be significantly less John Dutton in the back half of Season 5.
Of course, without Kevin Costner’s character taking the spotlight, this could give other characters like Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton, Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler, Wes Bentley’s Jamie Dutton, or even Orli Gottesman’s new-to-the-scene Halie a chance to shine. With the drama building, it’s only a matter of time for the pot to explode, and we can’t wait to see it. As of right now, the second half of Yellowstone Season 5 has not set a release date.
