Kevin Costner Fans Call Out Actor After Awards Appearance
Kevin Costner fans are hopping online to give the actor a little trouble after his presenter speech with America Ferrera at the Golden Globes. The two took to the stage to present the award for Best Female Actor in a Television Series: Musical or Comedy (which was taken home by The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri), but their shtick fell a little flat.
Kevin Costner And America Ferrera
America Ferrera started by complimenting Costner’s role in The Bodyguard, followed by Costner reciting some of Ferrara’s big monologue from Barbie.
Ferrera ribbed Kevin Costner a bit, asking if he memorized the whole monologue, to which Costner admitted he had not, but added, “it’s an important message, and it always serves to remind me what’s possible in films.”
Awkward Pairing
Throughout the bit, Costner held back laughter as Ferrera got one more joke in, saying, “So you’re not going to do the rest of my monologue right now on national television?
As many presenter speeches can be at these award ceremonies, the bit was a little awkward, and social media users took note.
One fan commented, “This was weird and awkward,” with others adding, “are the GG writers still on strike? because some of the jokes fell really flat and awkward tonight.”
Kevin Costner and America Ferrera are hardly to blame for the jokes that were written for them, and they’re not the only ones who had a bit of an awkward night.
Joy Koy Also Struggled
None fared worse than host Jo Koy though, who was ripped online for his opening monologue. Compared to the comments Koy is getting online, America Ferrara and Kevin Costner got off pretty easy.
Especially because their presenter’s speech was really only awkward because Costner was giggling the whole time during his delivery.
Kevin Costner And Horizon
Kevin Costner may have flubbed his Golden Globes presentation a bit, but the actor has been fairly busy with his upcoming epic project Horizon: An American Saga.
Horizon: An American Saga is a two-part film that is co-written, produced, directed by and starring Costner. The film is set to depict the expansion of the American West in the pre and post-Civil War era.
Horizon: An American Saga Could Be Epic
Along with Kevin Costner, Horizon: An American Saga boasts an extensive cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella Hunt, and Jamie Campbell Bower.
Costner previously revealed that the first film had completed production and that it is set to hit theaters June 28, 2024. The second film is scheduled to be released on August 16, 2024, so summer should be a one-two punch of Costner films for fans.
Closing Out Yellowstone
Of course, Kevin Costner fans are also patiently waiting for his final appearance as the Dutton family patriarch in Yellowstone. The second half of the final season has a long time coming, but fans will finally get to see the series premiere in November 2024.
So, if you’re a big fan of Costner’s work in Westerns, then 2024 is definitely going to be your year with a massive two-part film and his final performance in one of his best roles.
