Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier Reboot Headed For Disaster
An insider stated that the Kelsey Grammer-led Frasier reboot is going to fail because of a low budget and no returning stars.
Although there have been plenty of successful reboots in recent years, that does not necessarily mean that others are as lucky. Apparently, the Kelsey Grammer Frasier reboot is already heading into trouble, as there are many issues surrounding the new series. An insider on the series stated, “With the Paramount+ Frasier reboot, you’re getting the actor you know and love in his most famous role, but you’re not getting much else…there will be no lavish sets and none of the beloved faces fans held dear. Even the writers and producers are Z-list.”
One of the biggest issues that we have been seeing is the exclusion of many of the classic characters that made the series so special, and producers for the reboot are hoping that Kelsey Grammer is enough to keep Frasier going. While Grammer is certainly a fantastic actor, he might not be enough to get loyal fans back to the series, as they are likely to want to see other stars like David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin. However, Pierce recently stated that he had no interest in returning to that story or his character.
The insider’s story is that Pierce had put a plan together to bring back the entire original cast, and asked for a much larger role and more money. However, once the producers said no, Pierce opted to not return at all. The insider also stated that Kelsey Grammer believes he will be enough of a draw to bring people back to the world of Frasier.
Apparently, Pierce’s bold move to ask for more money and a bigger role ruined the inclusion of Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin returning. The producers likely did not want the headache that would likely have come from everyone wanting more money to return, so they opted to place Kelser Grammer’s Frasier in a new city, and with a brand-new cast. While this might be a risky move, it could work out in the end.
Most of the time, reboots don’t work because they are just a big rehashing of the same story just told decades later. The Kelsey Grammer Frasier reboot could stand on its own legs, as it will be a fresh take on a sitcom that was beloved back in the 1990s. It does not have to be the same locale and stars to bring in a brand-new audience.
Kelsey Grammer and his Frasier reboot will be showcased on Paramount+ and has taken some years to move forward. Currently, the original sitcom is available to stream on Hulu, though we are not sure if it will be moving to Paramount+ once the new reboot comes out. We would imagine that Paramount+ might want to be the hub for Frasier, despite the new reboot’s facelift.
The Kelsey Grammer-led Frasier reboot currently has no established release date yet, but we would imagine that Paramount+ might have it out by the end of this year. The new show was given a straight-to-series order back in October 2022, meaning that the casting and everything else was likely set in place. This could mean that a trailer for the new series is going to be released quite soon, and we are more than interested to see what this new reboot is going to look like.
