Kelly Reilly Misses Yellowstone Event, Mad At Organizers For Putting Name On List
Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly missed PaleyFest and says she had previously informed the organizers that she would not be available.
The Yellowstone fan panel at PaleyFest was notably missing a few big stars from the cast, and Kelly Reilly was one of those stars not in attendance. Deadline reported on the confused fans who took to social media to ask Reilly about her absence, to which she cleared things up by commenting on her Instagram post “I was filming in the UK at the time, and let them know in January I wouldn’t be able to attend,” adding, “I was sorry to hear my name was still on the list of attendees, as it is unfair to our fans.” While Reilly seemingly did her due diligence to give the organizers a heads up, it seems like the organizers either failed to disclose the information to fans, or something else is amiss.
The PaleyFest event was meant to feature an impressive roster of stars from Yellowstone that included Kelly Reilly, Kevin Costner, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, Wes Bentley, Gil Birmingham, and Jacki Weaver. Executive producers Taylor Sheridan and David C. Glasser were also listed to be in attendance but ended up missing out as well. Instead of these stars, a new lineup was announced right before the event with “scheduling conflicts” cited as the reason.
The new lineup for the panel included Keith Cox, President of Scripted at MTV Entertainment Studios, and actors Mo Brings Plenty, Dawn Olivieri Josh Lucas, and Wendy Moniz. In other words, not only did Kelly Reilly not make it to the event, but essentially the entire lineup was changed at the last minute, leaving fans frustrated and confused. As PaleyFest was a ticketed event, it essentially meant a lot of people didn’t get what they signed up for.
It’s odd that an entire lineup of main cast members like Kelly Reilly and Kevin Costner just didn’t show up for a panel until you remember this is Yellowstone we’re talking about. Rumored behind-the-scenes production drama has plagued the show over the past few months, with most of the rumors indicating that the series would be moving in a new direction without Costner in the near future. Paramount and Sheridan have yet to officially say that Season 5 will be the end of the popular series, but the announcement of the new Matthew McConaughey-led spin-off has certainly led to some speculation.
According to the rumors, the Kevin Costner drama has led to some morale problems for other stars like Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, and Gil Birmingham. If this is true, it’s possible that we may not even see any of these actors crossover to the new spin-off either. For now, the official statement remains that Paramount is planning on continuing work with Costner, but it remains to be seen if that holds up in the future.
In the meantime, we can look forward to seeing Kelly Reilly and the rest of the Yellowstone cast return for the second half of Season 5 later this summer. You can watch the first half of the season through streaming on the Paramount+ platform. We’ll also keep you updated on further developments in the Yellowstone situation along with any updates about the upcoming Yellowstone spin-offs like Bass Reeves, 6666, the McConaughey series, and the second season of 1923.
