A Great Keanu Reeves Movie Is Blowing Up On Streaming

Keanu Reeves has had numerous great films in his career. Even less celebrated movies like Johnny Mnemonic or Bram Stoker’s Dracula have managed to find reappraisal over the years. However, one series has managed to be consistently enjoyable and has kept the actor at the forefront of pop culture and action cinema. Of course, we are talking about the John Wick series. The first film was a surprise hit with audiences and the second film was an even bigger success. But, it is John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum that raked in the most cash at the box office and is gaining another wave of popularity thanks to streaming audiences.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is in the top 10 movies on Hulu and Google Play, and Keanu Reeves is reaping the benefits by once again being in the spotlight. It is worth noting that John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum has continued to find lots of love from both critics and audiences alike. And with its renewed interest on streaming platforms, even more folks are coming to realize just how awesome this entry in the John Wick series really is.
The third film sees master assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves) excommunicated from the intricate and omnipresent criminal empire that makes up his universe. This leads to him being hunted by nearly every assassin on the planet. In an effort to reclaim his place in the underworld, he shows fealty to the High Table but is then asked to kill his longtime friend and collaborator, Winston (Ian McShane). When he refuses, he is put back in a difficult position, but it turns out that he is betrayed by none other than Winston himself. This leaves John on the outs once again, and he is left to join forces with the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) to enact his revenge.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum took Keanu Reeves’ commitment to the John Wick role and amped it up to 11. The action sequences got bigger and bloodier than either of the previous two entries, and John Wick managed to rack up a body count of 167 dead assailants. Granted, he did have some help from allies like Sophia Al-Azwar, so he can’t claim every one of those 167 deaths. Still, that ranks as an insanely huge number of dead bodies and still remains the largest body count in the John Wick series to date.
There are a number of standout fight scenes in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Maybe the best is the knife shop fight which sees Keanu Reeves chucking a variety of sharp instruments at his attackers. It is a beautiful ballet of blades that needs to be seen to be believed:
And with John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum seeing an uptick in interest on streaming platforms, we have to wonder what that might mean for John Wick: Chapter 4. The sequel, along with an immediate follow-up, is slated to shoot back-to-back with the fifth installment and will hit theaters in May 2022. With the pandemic still causing problems for film and television production, will Keanu Reeves be available to make the sequels soon?
Keanu Reeves has gone through many ups and downs in his career, but he has been on quite the upswing at this point in his life. The John Wick series has a lot to do with that, helping to reestablish him as an action megastar. He will even be making a return to his most influential action hero, Neo, in the upcoming fourth Matrix film that will release on HBO Max and in theaters on the same day (December 22). He also starred in a pivotal role in the triple-A video game Cyberpunk 2077 that released last December. Not to mention his return to the character of Ted “Theodore” Logan in the very delightful Bill and Ted Face the Music. It’s a good time to be Keanu Reeves.
And it is a very good time if you love the John Wick series, especially the third entry. The series has shown that it has lasting popularity and continues to thrill viewers over the last seven years. If you haven’t seen the John Wick movies, now is the perfect time to give them a watch. And you might just find that john Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is the best of the bunch.
