See Keanu Reeves’ Neo Watch Himself On TV In New Matrix 4 Teaser
Nothing compares to the hype around The Matrix 4 that will bring back Keanu Reeves’ Neo/Thomas Anderson who is mysteriously back in the Matrix after his death in the third film.
December is shaping up to be a pretty important month in 2021 judging by the numerous highly-anticipated projects that are scheduled to finally release. While excitement is running high for The Witcher Season 2 and Spider-Man: No Way Home, nothing compares to the hype around The Matrix 4 that will bring back Keanu Reeves’ Neo/Thomas Anderson who is mysteriously back in the Matrix after his death in the third film. As the release of the film is now just days away, new TV spots have been cropping up to fuel the excitement around the film with the latest commercials depicting a scene that hints at the biggest twist–that there is a Matrix existing within the Matrix!
The Matrix 4 TV spots have been shared on Twitter by The Matrix Brasil and while all the teasers have been expertly keeping the storyline of the film under tight wraps, this recent commercial offers a crucial plot point. Till now the surprises have been Keanu Reeves’ Neo displaying heightened telekinetic powers, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II exhibiting some very strong Morpheus vibes, and the revelation that Neo never believed that he was The One–he just took on the mantle because Trinity was sure that he was their savior. But the new teasers debut another surprising element: Neo and Trinity watching themselves on television where the former uses his powers to make a helicopter crash. Check out the post below and make sure to watch until the end:
This could very well be an advertising trick but with the countless theories about the potential plot of The Matrix 4 floating out there, we have to consider the possibilities. Soon after the mind-bending trailer of the film was released, many took to Reddit to put forward their theories to make sense of the plot and the wildest speculation was that “there is a Matrix within the Matrix.” According to the fan theory, whenever the machines notice that one of the humans is waking up, they plug them into another simulation where they get to be The One who manages to make it to the real world and liberate it. And probably, this is what happened to Keanu Reeves’ character in the first three films.
This would explain Neo and Trinity watching themselves on TV. Maybe it is in The Matrix 4 that Neo will truly escape the Matrix and get to see the simulations he has been put through whenever he started becoming aware of the fake reality. Or the simpler explanation would be the duo simply being in the real world and watching the chaos they set off in the simulated reality. Well, there are tons of such wacky theories out there and only watching Keanu Reeves being The One again will solve all the mysteries.
Apart from Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, The Matrix 4 will also see the return of Jada Pinkett Smith and Lambert Wilson as Captain Niobe of the Logos and The Merovingian, respectively. They will be joined by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Telma Hopkins, Max Riemelt, Daniel Bernhardt, Toby Onwumere, Brian J. Smith, Andrew Caldwell, Ellen Hollman, Jonathan Groff, and Christina Ricci. The Matrix Resurrections is set to debut in theaters as well as on HBO Max on December 22.
