Keanu Reeves will end up going down as one of the greatest action stars of an entire generation, and up until this point, he’s not been part of the major franchises currently running. That’s a feat amongst itself considering the proliferation of that genre over the last couple of decades. But he’s been great at taking other kinds of roles, ones that still put him in massive action sequences with cool stories. That could be set to change though with insider Daniel Richtman letting it out there that Reeves might be getting recruited to join the folks at Marvel. Apparently, Anthony Mackie wants to fight Reeves on screen somehow in the next Captain America movie.

Of course, this is only a rumor at this point, but there’s something to be said for Mackie beginning the recruiting process for his next movie. In the next few years, he’s going to be getting his own solo movie as Captain America, moving that franchise in a totally new direction. Following the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we saw Mackie take up the uniform and shield for good. So when he gets his next movie, adding high-profile talent to the mix would make all the sense in the world, and how many out there are bigger than Keanu Reeves?

We will have to see how this plays out of course. Just because Anthony Mackie wants to face off against Keanu Reeves doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to happen. As with all of these things, there are a considerable amount of moving parts. And big-named talent always seems to have their name floating around the Marvel Cinematic Universe simply because that franchise is as big as it gets. With tons of movies and series in the works, they seem to have enough content to give half of Hollywood a gig if they wanted. Adding Reeves to the mix would be big news, but really not all that surprising.

Before Keanu Reeves were to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and again that’s only a rumor, he’s got plenty of other action content in the works. At the end of the year, he’s set to hit the screen ago as Neo when The Matrix 4 makes its celebrated return to that universe. That’s set for a December 22nd release date in the theaters and on HBO Max. It will surely be one of the biggest movies of the year.

Of course that’s not all. Keanu Reeves is also coming back for two more movies in the John Wick universe as well. Those are gearing up for filming right now with the fourth flick just adding some new folks to the cast. What started as a simply little shoot-em-up about an assassin, his car and his dog has now turned into one of the biggest franchises around.

And he is actually set to head into the comic book space at some point too, though the path there is a little different than what we see from other actors. He’s signed on with Netflix to make BRZRKR for the platform, an adaptation of the comic book of the same name. The difference here is that Keanu Reeves actually helped write that comic book when it first released, meaning he’d be taking a character he created to the screen. Not many others can say that. That’s set to come out on Netflix in the next couple of years.

What will happen with Keanu Reeves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? That remains to be seen. If Mackie is recruiting him then I would say there’s a decent chance it happens. Maybe he could take a villain turn as well if he’s up against Captain America.
