Pop star Katy Perry has entered a new style phase that’s being called things like “sexy-style” and it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out why. Perry is currently trending on Twitter for her appearance this past weekend on Saturday Night Live, and not even for what she was wearing during either of her two musical performances. Instead, people are blown away by the revealing black outfit she wore during a photo shoot for the episode.
Katy Perry posted the pics from the photo shoot to her official Twitter account on Friday, the day before her Saturday Night Live appearance. In all four shots you can see Perry posing in a black Mugler corset catsuit. According to PopSugar, the Saturday Night Live photo shoot seems to be, in part, a bit of a tribute. The site says that Perry has long been an admirer of the work of designer Thierry Mugler, who passed away last week at the age of 73. You can see Perry in the late designer’s creation below.
As great as Katy Perry looks in the corset catsuit, the pop star made sure it wasn’t the most memorable outfit during her appearance. Actually, the most memorable outfit from the performance wasn’t even worn by Perry. The singer performed her single “When I’m Gone” with five dancers all dressed as mushrooms. The dancers wear mushroom-cap shaped hats, in suits that — among other things — make their thighs look as thick as tree trunks. They also carry fans with “EAT ME!” printed on one side. Katy Perry’s Saturday Night Live appearance, with Willem Dafoe hosting, proved to be a winner. The episode finished strong with 5 million viewers. Along with the weirdly costumed performance of “When I’m Gone,” Perry also performed “Never Really Over.”
