A new rumor has surfaced that states that Kathleen Kennedy is no longer going to be head of Lucasfilm and has accepted a massive severance package from Disney to step down. This is just a rumor, but it comes from Bionic Woman and Sleeper Cell producer Kamran Pasha, who claims to have heard this information from a reputable source. Pasha has also indicated in the video below that one of the heavy-hitting news outlets like Variety, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter have also received this information, and are not reporting on it.

Pasha is also indicating that Kathleen Kennedy leaving Star Wars was amicable for both parties, and she is leaving with quite an impressive severance package that includes around $25 to $30 million but is mostly in stock or stock options. Quite honestly, that is not a bad parting gift, as her stock options could make her far wealthier. The above rumor has also indicated that Kennedy is going to be able to quietly keep control of Lucasfilm for the next few months, though her exit is coming in 2023 right around the time that Indiana Jones 5 is released.

It is not at all shocking that Kathleen Kennedy is now taking her exit as head of Star Wars content, as the franchise has seen a dip in recent years. That is not to say that the Star Wars television department isn’t doing well with The Mandalorian, but the movies have been suffering for quite some time. Now that she is meant to take her exit, it could be that Jon Favreau or Dave Filoni could step into the role of running the whole show.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni could even mimic the same co-CEO type of relationship that DC Films James Gunn and Peter Safran currently have. Kathleen Kennedy has been questioned plenty during her time running Star Wars content, and it makes sense that she would now be taking her exit. Also, it could be because Bob Iger has also taken back control of Disney, which currently owns Lucasfilm, and he might not be happy with the gains that the Star Wars franchise has been making lately.

We do want to state that this is only a rumor currently, however, the above video and Pasha have stated that the information gathered on Kathleen Kennedy no longer running the Star Wars franchise is believable. It makes sense to us that new leadership is going to happen now, especially with the revival of the Indiana Jones franchise happening, and a new era of Star Wars features needing to happen. The next movie plan has been in limbo for quite some time, and it could be that new leadership was being put in place and that his person or persons have some fresh ideas to build up Star Wars once again.

Kathleen Kennedy leaving behind the Star Wars universe is something that fans might be quite excited about, considering she has been chastised plenty, especially in recent years. We will certainly share more information about this rumored big change when it becomes available.
