Kate Hudson Joining The Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Kate Hudson says she would love to work on a Marvel film.
Will Kate Hudson be playing a superhero soon? Not necessarily, but according to Variety, she and her brother — The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Wyatt Russell — think it would be awesome if she did.
“I remember [Wyatt Russell] calling me and going, ‘You gotta do a Marvel,’” Hudson said. “I’d be open to it, for sure. Why not? If it was right, I would love it, I think I’d have a lot of fun.”
Kate Hudson on the possibility of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe
In her recent talk at BAFTA’s Life in Pictures, Kate Hudson opened up about a lot more than her willingness to be in a Marvel movie in the future. However, she focused more on the past, discussing things like how she insisted on Matthew McConaughey being cast as her co-star in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
With the power to approve or disapprove most aspects of the movie, Kate Hudson held a lot of power on the set of that film; a power which she used to make sure that she had the right leading man. She suggested bringing on McConaughey because the two had a lot of chemistry and “I wanted to play with him.”
Kate Hudson goes on to say that the actor had a great “competitive spirit” like her, which was perfect for a film in which the two main characters are constantly scheming to defeat each other in their individual games. It was no Marvel movie, but the cheerful, lighthearted film did great with audiences, and is still thought of as one of the classic rom-coms of our time thanks in large part to Hudson and McConaughey’s energy.
Judging by some of her other revelations in that same talk, Kate Hudson might really enjoy working on a Marvel film because it is more drama-heavy. In her opinion, comedies require a lot more energy, because the actors have to keep their energy up and keep being “on” all day long. It is draining, and she says that at the end of a day of filming a comedy, she just wants to go to bed.
She also touched on another topic that she said isn’t brought up enough: female-led films. Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway not only starred in, but also produced their film Bride Wars (2009), but she would love to see more of this in Hollywood. The actress praises Marvel for having leading heroines like Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) but notes that this is still too much of a rarity.
Kate Hudson also mentions that, while she has been in the business for decades, she and her stepfather, Kurt Russell, have said that many actors land a role every five to 10 years that will earn them another 10 years of fame. Could a Marvel movie be that next role for Hudson?
While it isn’t necessarily in the plan at the moment, that doesn’t mean that we won’t be seeing Kate Hudson in a Marvel superhero costume in the future. Anything is possible, and with as many epic blockbusters as the MCU puts out (and with as many famous faces in the cast), it wouldn’t be an impossible dream for Hudson – or for fans – to hope for her to show up in some capacity in a future Marvel film.
