Kate Hudson Joining The Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Kate Hudson revealed she would have a "ton of fun" doing a Marvel movie.
Kate Hudson has recently expressed interest in becoming part of the MCU if the right part comes along. As reported by Movieweb the Almost Famous star told the Mirror UK, “I think I’d have a lot of fun doing a Marvel.” If Hudson did join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she would be in good company.
If Kate Hudson stars in a Marvel project, she will be the third member of her family to do so. Hudson would be following in the footsteps of her stepfather Kurt Russell who played Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, and her brother Wyatt Russell who picked up the mantle of Captain America, albeit briefly, in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
It was Wyatt himself who put the idea of joining the MCU in Kate Hudson’s head. According to Hudson, Russell called her on the phone after having a positive experience working for the entertainment giant and strongly suggested that his sister give it a shot. Hudson has since shown a lot of interest in the idea, hinting that if the right project came along, she would “love it.”
There are several characters in Marvel Comics that she would be perfect for that haven’t yet made the leap to the big screen. One of them could even tie into Hudson’s next career move, an album of original music. Kate Hudson is reportedly making the jump from movie star to pop star, and what better part for her to play in the MCU than world-famous mutant pop star Dazzler?
With the X-Men set to join the MCU proper in the next few years, it would be the perfect opportunity to bring the character into the Marvel stable of films. Dazzler, also known as Alison Blaire, was first created in 1980 to capitalize on the then-popular disco craze. The mutant is the X-Men equivalent of Britney Spears if Britney had the ability to convert sound into powerful blasts of light. Kate Hudson would be perfect for the role.
At 43, Disney might consider Kate Hudson too old to play Dazzler, in which case there are plenty of other options for the How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days star. Like The Fantastic Four’s Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. Kate would even have an advantage over Jessica Alba, the last actress to play Storm since she wouldn’t require a blond wig and blue contact lenses to get the look right.
Unfortunately, any role Kate Hudson gets will probably draw accusations of nepotism from the internet. Kate, the daughter of not one but two Hollywood stars–Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn–has already been labeled a “nepo baby” by several people online. Getting a job at the same company her dad and younger brother work at could potentially just add fuel for the trolls.
Realistically any Marvel project Kate Hudson would potentially take part in would still be a couple of years away. The actress has been very enthusiastic about her upcoming venture into the music world and is sure to take the time to make sure she does it right. Hopefully, by then, the internet rage machine will have moved away from nepo babies and onto another topic altogether.
