Kate Bosworth and Justin Long announced their engagement one year after going public with the relationship.
Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns) and Justin Long (Live Free or Die Hard) just took to Instagram to announce their engagement and the photos are adorable. The two elaborated on the decision on Long’s Life Is Short podcast, where they talked about how he popped the question to her earlier this year. Kate Bosworth and Justin Long filmed the horror film House of Darkness together, though they weren’t dating at the time, and Bosworth was married to Michael Polish. In August later that year, Bosworth would announce her separation from Polish. Long and Bosworth would confirm their relationship in 2022.
House of Darkness would release the same year the two officially made their relationship public. The horror film stars Kate Bosworth as Mina and Justin Long as Hap, who offers Bosworth’s character a ride home with ulterior motives. However, things take a turn when he shows up at the creepy castle she lives in.
Along with Kate Bosworth and Justin Long, House of Darkness starred Gia Crovatin and Lucy Walters. The film was directed and written by Neil LaBute. While House of Darkness can perhaps take credit for sparking a romance between the two leads, it didn’t set the horror critics ablaze as it only has a 59 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fortunately, the next horror collaboration between Kate Bosworth and Justin Long would fare much better. The two starred in the 2022 horror Barbarian, which follows a woman staying in an Airbnb who realizes the house is not what it seems. The film was written and directed by Zach Cregger and currently boasts an impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Along with Kate Bosworth and Justin Long, Barbarian starred Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler, Jaymes Butler, Kate Nichols, and Rachel Fowler. The film is currently available to watch on HBO Max if you haven’t checked it out yet. It’s definitely one worth going into without reading too much about it.
Kate Bosworth and Justin Long will probably be spending a lot of time together as they bask in the celebration of their engagement, which is good because they won’t be on-set together often in the near future. The two both have quite a few interesting projects coming up, but they won’t be co-starring in any of them. Surely the happy couple will collaborate again in the future, but for now, it looks like we’ll have to enjoy their performances separately.
Kate Bosworth’s film Fallout is set to come out on July 1, while Justin Long’s upcoming projects don’t have any solid release dates. Video game fans will be disappointed to learn that this isn’t the Walton Goggins-starring Fallout series, but the premise still seems interesting. The film will follow six people who fight to survive off the remaining oxygen after getting trapped in a fallout shelter.
Kate Bosworth also won’t be appearing in Justin Long’s upcoming projects which include a Goosebumps TV series and two films.
