A Forgotten Thor Character Just Returned On WandaVision
An unexpected Thor character just showed up in WandaVision and became a crucial part of the plot.

WandaVision continues to bring a number of surprises to the table when it comes to expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We have seen one of the Avengers turn into a full-on villain and have discovered the eerie way in which Vison has been resurrected. The newest episode of the series, “We Interrupt This Program”, has given fans a ton of shocking and stimulating answers. One of those elements actually ended up being the return of a character that we have not seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for almost a decade.
Kat Dennings returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Darcy Lewis, the astrophysicist that was last seen in the worst Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Thor: The Dark World. She is brought in as part of the team assembled by S.W.O.R.D. – Sentient Weapons Observation and Response Division – to investigate the strange reality bubble that has popped up around the town of Westview, New Jersey. It is Darcy who discovers that there are frequencies she can tap into that are terminating from the bubble. It is here that she is able to harness and view the bizarre sitcom universe that is taking place in WandaVision.
What is very interesting about the inclusion of Kat Dennings as Darcy is that the character is credited for all of the upcoming episodes of WandaVision. It would seem that Darcy will be playing an integral part in the remainder of the series. It is clear that she has the best grasp on what might be going on. She is able to intercept the specific radio frequencies that are part of Wanda’s alternate reality and manipulates them so that the S.W.O.R.D. team can send a signal into the bubble. However, now that they know Wanda is responsible for what is happening, will Darcy be part of figuring out how to neutralize Wanda?
It is also worth theorizing if this is the last time we will be seeing Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She has been absent from the franchise since her last appearance in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. Is this just a single return for WandaVision or are there bigger plans for the character moving forward? If she ends up knowing the most about what Wanda is doing, could she be an important part of taking her down? Could she have the best possible approach to nullifying Wanda’s powers? She definitely seems like she will be the smartest person in the room as far as figuring out what is going on.
The return of Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis shows that WandaVision still has a number of tricks up its sleeve. Even though the latest episode gave us a number of answers, it also has left us with new questions to ponder. It is going to be interesting to see if Darcy ends up being one of the more important central characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 4. If that does end up being the case, expect to see a lot more of her in WandaVision and the other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects coming our way.
