Kaley Cuoco Says She Was Given Sex Scenes On Big Bang To Mess With Her
Kaley Cuoco reveals a twisted truth behind her sex scenes in The Big Bang Theory.
Kaley Cuoco made quite the impression as Penny on the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory. Not only was she an incredibly funny presence but she was an undeniably attractive member of the comedic ensemble. Eventually, she ended up in a number of sex scenes with co-star Johnny Galecki who played her love interest Leonard. However, it turns out that those sex scenes might have been something of a cruel joke.
While talking to Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast, Kaley Cuoco revealed that she believes the sex scenes between her and Johnny Galecki were part of an elaborate prank pulled by The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre. Cuoco and Galecki dated for a few years during the show’s run but eventually broke up under amicable circumstances. After the breakup, Penny and Leonard suddenly found themselves in a number of sex scenes together on the show.
When we broke up obviously it was a little sensitive for a minute,” recollected Kaley Cuoco. “But I remember those weeks that Chuck had written these episodes where all of a sudden our characters were like sleeping together every other second.” Cuoco then goes on to posit the theory that Lorre wrote those scenes as something of a twisted joke on Galecki and Cuoco. And Galecki seems to even agree with this idea.
If Kaley Cuoco is correct and Chuck Lorre did decide to write a number of sex scenes between her and Galecki after their breakup as a weird gag, that definitely feels somewhat insensitive and just bizarre. However, Cuoco laughed the idea off during the interview. It looks like if there is any truth to her theory, she took it in good jest and does not hold any sort of legitimate grudge against Lorre for doing such a thing.
Thankfully, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki were able to maintain a working relationship and friendship after their breakup. The characters of Penny and Leonard ended up getting married and fans of the show were very happy to see that they ended up together. However, there is the question of where they ended up after the show concluded. There has been some hope that their relationship will be referenced in Young Sheldon, the spinoff show that details the childhood of Sheldon Cooper, another one of the characters from The Big Bang Theory.
Meanwhile, Kaley Cuoco seems to be doing very well after her tenure on The Big Baang Theory came to an end. She is currently the voice of anti-heroine Harley Quinn on the wonderful HBO Max animated series. That show just recently announced that it will be coming back for a third season. Cuoco is also a producer on the show and has helped bring yet another iconic iteration of Harley Quinn to life.
Although it was pretty weird for Kaley Cuoco to be put in a bunch of sex scenes with her ex-boyfriend in The Big Bang Theory, at least she doesn’t appear to take it very seriously. Now, if we ever decide to go back and rewatch The Big Bang Theory, it is going to cast those moments in a new light.
