Jonathan Majors Teaming With Another Major Marvel Villain?
Will Jonathan Majors be teaming up with another villain for an upcoming project?
This article is more than 2 years old
Kang the Conqueror is an iconic villain in the Marvel comics, with ties to the Fantastic Four. He’s a genius. He’s a complicated villain with ties to many other iconic Marvel characters. And as audiences saw when they met him in Loki, the villain has variants who are also up to causing trouble. We’ll likely be seeing Jonathan Majors appearing in season two for the series, giving audiences a better opportunity to get to know Kang, but they’ll definitely be seeing him as the villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. We can expect the genius will be messing with the Quantum Realm when he shows up. Now, according to sources for We Got This Covered, Marvel may have more for him to do soon.
The outlet claims that Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror will be teaming up with Doctor Doom. Like Kang, Dr. Victor Don Doom is portrayed in the Marvel comics as a genius and an inventor, among his many talents and skills. He’s often considered one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel comics, if not the absolute top of the list. While Bryan Cranston has sometimes been portrayed in fanart as the villain, no one has been publicly announced for the role of Doctor Doom at this time.
Audiences have been waiting for Doctor Doom to appear for a while. Back in 2019, filmmaker Noah Hawley was still talking to Marvel about his ideas for the character. The screenwriter for Black Widow said there was an attempt to get a mention of Doctor Doom in the Scarlett Johansson movie, though that didn’t work out. At this time, they’re introducing Kang the Conqueror with Jonathan Majors, and while the pair often face each other in the comics, it may be too soon to expect we’ll see Doom in any near future.
One interesting note about Kang from the comics is his lineage. His name is Nathaniel Richards. It has often been hinted that Kang’s birth father is Reed Richards from Fantastic Four. At other points in the Marvel comics, it’s suggested that Doctor Doom may be Kang’s father. With the question of his parentage a point that Marvel comic fans bring up often, it would be interesting to see if the movies might decide to provide the final word on the matter. With Doctor Doom having first been introduced in a Fantastic Four comic, there could be some hope that both villains could appear in that film, which is slated for release in the summer of 2023. Fantastic Four hasn’t moved forward with casting yet though, so it’s too early to say if Jonathan Majors will appear, let alone Doctor Doom.
So, is there a lot of reason to believe that we’ll soon be seeing Doctor Doom and Kang the Conqueror team up in a project? While the pair have a long history in the comics, and it would be great to finally see Doctor Doom on screen, we’ll have to hold our excitement until more news comes out on this one, so take it with a grain of salt at this time. For now, we can be excited to see Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, standing on his own.
