See Jonah Hill Talk About Having Sex With Eddie Murphy’s Daughter
Both Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy are pretty busy guys in Hollywood these days with each legendary comedian working on their own highly anticipated projects. Luckily for us, the duo was able to combine their forces in You People, a new Netflix feature that sees Jonah Hill’s character dating the daughter of Eddie Murphy and Nia Long’s characters. In a new, and uncomfortable, first look trailer–which you can see below–we witness the awkward first meeting between the soon-to-be in-laws, during which Hill’s character is put under a microscope and cracks under the pressure.
Although it’s a short scene between the trio, the trailer reveals a lot of the storyline for Netflix’s latest star-studded comedy. Sitting down at a restaurant opposite his girlfriend’s parents, Jonah Hill’s character is eager and enthusiastic to finally be face-to-face with the people he hopes to call family. While Jonah Hill may be pumped, Eddie Murphy and Nia Long are less than thrilled, grilling their beloved child’s boyfriend with a set of questions.
Quickly making things weird in a way only Jonah Hill can do, the nervous boyfriend divulges too much information, leading Eddie Murphy and Nia Long ready to call it quits on their first meeting. With heavy eye rolls and deep sighs, it’s clear that the couple doesn’t think their daughter’s pursuer is the right man for her. Deadpan and cringe-worthy lines dot the teaser, leaving us filled with excitement for more You People first looks to arrive in the approaching days.
The trailer served as just a base level of information about the comedy with Jonah Hill, Eddie Murphy, and Nia Long’s character’s names not revealed. But, the feature promises to bring out the big guns with a killer cast list that includes the likes of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Rhea Perlman, David Duchovny, Lauren London, Elliott Gould, Emily Arlook, Mike Epps, Sam Jay, Nia Long, Molly Gordon, Deon Cole, Alani La La Anthony, Travis Bennet, Bryan Greenberg, and Andrea Savage. Judging by the short clip, production is holding its cards close to its chest with a longer and more concrete trailer to be released sometime soon.
The Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy-led film marks the feature-length directorial debut of celebrated television creator Kenya Barris. Barris is known for crafting several recent small-screen mega-hits including Black-ish and both of its spin-offs, Grown-ish and Mixed-ish. You People will precede Barris’ new take on the old classic, The Wizard of Oz, in which the director’s involvement was recently revealed.
As we mentioned, both Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy have a full slate of projects either in the works or about to begin production. For Hill, the actor, who in recent years has picked up a new job behind the camera, will soon begin to get cameras rolling on Outcome, a film that recently added Keanu Reeves to its cast. Eddie Murphy has already been getting busy in Beverly Hills, California on the set of Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop 4 where he’ll reprise his role as Axel Foley. You can expect to see the comedic duo opposite one another in You People when it hits Netflix on January 27.
