Jon Hamm Joins Acclaimed Streaming Drama
Jon Hamm is now set to join one of the most acclaimed shows on streaming services, which is great because he has been involved in hilarious commercials for that same service.
Whoever runs the marketing department for AppleTV needs to get a raise. For months, the streaming platform had been running an ad that shows Jon Hamm being upset that he has not been cast in any of the shows or films that the streaming platform has been releasing. The commercial is quite hilarious, and even funnier because Hamm is quite a big star. Well, it appears that the commercial has paved the way for the man, as he has been cast in the upcoming season of the hit AppleTV series, The Morning Show. Hamm will join the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Billy Crudup, Steve Carell, and Reese Witherspoon.
Jon Hamm needs to give his agents or representation a raise too, as this is not the only hilarious commercial that has seemingly joined in on poking fun at Hamm not being recognized as a star. He is currently in commercials for Progressive Insurance where he runs into the spokesperson for the insurance company, Flo, who does not remember dating him. Seems that everyone might know who Hamm is now after he appears in The Morning Show Season 3. Hamm is no stranger to appearing in drama shows, as he was the lead actor in the hit series, Mad Men. Now, he joins another Emmy-nominated program.
The Morning Show will bring in Jon Hamm as a corporate titan who targets the UBA and brings in Cory (Crudup), Alex (Aniston), and Bradley (Witherspoon) into his orbit. Hamm was just recently in the smash hit film, Top Gun: Maverick, where he portrayed Adm. Beau ‘Cyclone’ Simpson. He did play the part of the “bad guy” quite well. Seems he is going to be playing the part of the villain in the hit AppleTV series as well. This is speculation, but a corporate titan that tries to essentially pit everyone against everyone sounds like a bad guy character to us.
The second season of The Morning Show wrapped on November 18th of 2021. The series is said to be starting production on the third season later this month, with Charlotte Stoudt serving as showrunner. As previously mentioned, the morning show is nominated for several Emmys including Lead Actress in a Drama Series with Witherspoon taking the nom, and Oustanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Crudup. Crudup also won that same Emmy for season one of the series. Jon Hamm joins a massive cast that also includes Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar, Tom Irwin, Greta Lee, Ruairi O’Connor, Hasan Minhaj, Holland Taylor, Tara Karsian, and Valeria Golino.
The Morning Show Season 3 is currently going to begin production this month, so it stands to reason that we are likely not going to see Jon Hamm make his debut until late 2023. It usually takes around a year of turnaround time from when a show begins production to when it airs. That is the best-case scenario. There have been plenty of delays that are currently halting productions still, but we hope to see the man join this great expansive cast sooner rather than later.
