See Jon Bernthal Back As The Punisher
Netflix’s Marvel shows could be hit or miss, but the casting was always on point. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher series was fine and his introduction in Daredevil was great, but fans definitely would like to see more of his take on the character. Fortunately, it looks like Bernthal is back in the skull shirt, as there were some behind-the-scenes photos posted of him working on the set of Daredevil: Born Again.
The Punisher On The Set Of Daredevil: Born Again
This could be a spoiler, but we have reason to think it isn’t for Jon Berthnal’s potential Punisher story in Daredevil: Born Again. The behind-the-scenes pictures also show us another character who looks like The White Tiger. It seems like The White Tiger character, who is a vigilante, is taken down by the Punisher in this photo.
An Imposter?
However, we don’t get a glimpse of Jon Bernthal’s face in this picture at all, as the figure is hooded and is only donning the Punisher logo on his shirt. This may be someone taking inspiration from Frank Castle rather than the man himself. It’s not really like Castle to sneak up to kill someone from behind, or to disguise himself with a hood.
Punisher Vs. Daredevil Round Two?
Perhaps someone is trying to frame Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in this scene. Previous rumors have also indicated that there might be corrupt police officers who are using his logo to commit crimes. This would set up a team-up or potential confrontation between Punisher and Daredevil, as they likely have differing opinions on how to handle the situation.
Will Castle Face Off With The Kingpin Again?
In any case, it will be cool to see Jon Bernthal’s Punisher back in action in Daredevil: Born Again, regardless of what kind of role he’s playing. While Marvel has kept plot details of the series under wraps, we know that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is returning, who has been the main antagonist for Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Netflix show. We also saw Kingpin in the recent Echo series, where a post-credits scene saw him getting the idea to run for mayor of New York City.
New York Under The Devil’s Reign Of Mayor Fisk
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will likely have to fight a very different kind of battle against a mayoral Kingpin. In the meantime, we also know that Wilson Bethel will be playing Bullseye, so Daredevil is sure to have his hands full. Maybe he’ll have to reluctantly rely on the help of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher after all.
The Series Started From Scratch
The creative direction of Daredevil: Born Again basically started from scratch recently, as Marvel opted to do a complete overhaul of the series. Originally, the show was announced to run for 18 episodes, but it’s unclear if that will be the case now. The original version of the series may have had different storylines for characters like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, but it seems like those weren’t working.
Other Returning Stars
Along with the recent set photos of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson were also seen on set reprising the roles of Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. It seems like Daredevil: Born Again will be more linked to the events of the original Netflix show after all. We’ll have to wait to find out when the series comes to Disney+ in 2025.
