Johnny Depp Doesn’t Want To Work For Disney Ever Again
A new report from The Daily Mail says Johnny Depp is refusing to ever work for Disney again, including in future Pirates of the Caribbean films.
It was around this time last year that the final verdict was read in a Virginia courtroom in the case between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard. Since then, a lot has changed for both of the celebrities with Depp finding that his career is well on the way back. But, there’s one grudge that he’s planning to hold until the end of time as the Daily Mail reveals that the Cry Baby star has no intention whatsoever of ever returning to Disney.
To take you back in time, the hard feelings between Johnny Depp and the House of Mouse came after the actor was fired from his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. While Depp has stood by his belief that the studio dropped him because of the assault allegations made by his ex-wife and Aquaman franchise star Amber Heard, it’s worth noting that during the trial, a spokesperson for Disney came forward to say that this wasn’t the case at all and that many other factors played a part in their decision to let him go – including his behavior toward others on set.
Now that he’s back in the limelight, audiences have been hoping that a truce will be called between Disney and Johnny Depp with studio President Sean Bailey even commenting that there’s a possibility they would consider allowing him to return although they are “noncommittal at this point.” But, according to an insider, nothing could get the Edward Scissorhands star to return to filming on the Disney lot as he’s still upset with the way he was treated following Heard’s op-ed – the publication that started the entire court battle.
This insider source claims that money is of no value to Johnny Depp as even the millions of dollars that Disney might throw at him wouldn’t be enough for him to appear even in a cameo capacity. Between 2003 and 2017, Depp played the alcoholic swashbuckler and stayed true to the films even when other fan-favorite actors took their leave. Essentially, without Captain Jack Sparrow there would be no Pirates of the Caribbean franchise but, after five movies, maybe it’s time for everyone to pack it up and remember the good ol’ days for what they were.
Outside of his scuffle with Disney, Johnny Depp is experiencing a comeback to the world of acting, something that he’s previously said was stripped away from him after the allegations of physical abuse began to surface a few years ago. The actor celebrated his return to the big screen recently at the Cannes Film Festival where, during his appearance for the debut of his film, Jeanne du Barry, he said that he no longer felt boycotted by Hollywood.
Along with the question surrounding his return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, audiences have also been wondering if he’ll be given his role back in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
As of right now, to the best of our knowledge, Depp has no other projects on the horizon.
