Johnny Depp Cancels Concert Due To Health Issues
Fans of Johnny Depp and his band The Hollywood Vampires were disappointed Tuesday night when they had to cancel the concert due to “unforeseen issues.” While there hasn’t been an official reason given for the cancellation of the concert in Budapest, the Mirror reported that it may be due to an ankle injury Depp suffered in May. Ahead of Depp’s Glasgow concert, the Mirror reported that he was seen needing a crutch for support on the way to his concert.
The Hollywood Vampires, Johnny Depp‘s band, canceled a number of concert dates after Johnny Depp reportedly suffered an ankle injury.
Johnny Depp had previously let fans know about his ankle injury, taking to Instagram to let fans know that he had a hairline break that became worse and turned into a full-on fracture. According to WebMD, an ankle fracture can take anywhere between four to eight weeks to heal and may take months for an individual to regain full use and range of motion. If the fracture is severe enough, it’s possible that it can also take longer than eight weeks for it to heal.
You have to imagine that it can’t be too comfortable for Johnny Depp to perform on stage with a healing ankle fracture, and if the healing process was interrupted, then it may be even longer before he’s fully healed.
However, it’s possible that this is all tabloid speculation and that Depp’s ankle is healing just fine. To find out for sure, we’ll have to wait until the Hollywood Vampires play another show.
The group, which includes Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Tommy Henrickson as the four main members, also canceled last night’s scheduled show in Slovakia.
Johnny Depp had previously let fans know about his ankle injury, taking to Instagram to let fans know that he had a hairline break that became worse and turned into a full-on fracture.
However, the group announced on their website that the show in Slovakia was canceled because the construction of the building was incomplete and was deemed to be unsafe for the band and the fans. The Instagram post also specifically mentioned that the cancellation of this show was unrelated to the cancellation of the show in Budapest.
It’s entirely possible that Johnny Depp simply tweaked his ankle ahead of the Budapest concert and may have been in a bit too much pain to perform. But then again, plenty of people would probably be fine with just seeing Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Tommy Henrickson if Depp wasn’t able to make it to the stage.
There are undoubtedly fans that would have been disappointed with Depp’s absence, but in the musical sense, he’s the least accomplished of the foursome.
The unforeseen circumstances that led to the cancellation of the Budapest show could also be completely unrelated to Johnny Depp, but we likely won’t know unless the band chooses to divulge that information. In any case, it seems Depp’s ankle is in good enough shape to continue the tour, as the Instagram post also indicated that the band is ready for their next round of shows.
The Rest Of The Tour
The band will be finishing up their European tour in Slupsk, Poland, and Wolfsburg, Germany, through Sunday before heading to the US to play shows in Boston, Massachusetts, Manchester, New Hamshire, and Bethel, New York.
