Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been locked in a heated legal battle for the past six weeks. Although the bulk of the trial has ended, and jury deliberation is ongoing, it appears as if the lawsuit is going to be given more life. It has been announced that Depp and Heard will be appearing in a documentary together that will cover the trial much deeper than what was shown to the public. Warner Bros. Discovery U.K. will show a two-part documentary that is going to cover the trial that took place in the U.K. High Court between the actors. Then the focus will shift to the U.S. version of the lawsuit and offer another two-part documentary.
This new “vs” series format is going to be used to cover multiple trials that have taken place recently. The first will be Johnny vs Amber, which will cover their trial in-depth. There will be more evidence revealed and deeper interviews taken from both legal teams that represented Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Also, family, friends, and witnesses will also take part in this new documentary that is meant to cover the trial in a brand-new light. The other trial documentaries that are being covered in this format include Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, who are the wives of two famous footballers. Also, Britney Spears and Jaime Spears will be covered in this series as well.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have both exclaimed that once this trial has concluded, they both just wish to move on with their lives. However, depending on who wins the trial, it has also been stated that the losing party will seek an appeal. With this new documentary being announced, it sounds like no one is going to be able to just “move on” from the public eye regarding this trial. The trial has not even concluded and now there is going to be a much deeper dive concocted by these documentaries on Discovery+.
Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation, as he claims her op-ed piece in The Washington Post all but named him as her abuser. This led to his firing from Fantastic Beasts and the upcoming Pirates reboot, which has led the actor to seek the sum of $50 million. Heard, on the other hand, is countersuing in the amount of $100 million for damages sustained from the abuse she claims Depp put her through while they were married. The trial arguments ended last week and there has not been a decision made yet by the jury. Whoever loses will have to pay the other party a hefty amount of money.
The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial has been a massive focus for the media these past six weeks, and it looks as though the drama and personal history behind the pair’s marriage are going to become even more known once this new documentary hits Discover+. For those who have not been able to watch the trial, this documentary will give you a chance to see what all the fuss has been about between the actors. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the jury’s decision sometime this week.
