John Wick 4 Just Broke A Huge Franchise Record Before Even Being Released
John Wick 4 has been officially given a run time of 2 hours and 49 minutes, making it the longest in the franchise.
Everyone is patiently waiting to see the next chapter in the stories John Wick universe, which is set to happen quite soon. However, though the newest movie has yet to be released, it has already broken a huge franchise record. John Wick 4 will have a 2-hour and 49-minute runtime, making it the longest movie in the franchise, which just means we are going to get far more action this time around.
The director of the film series, Chad Stahelski, did promise that John Wick 4 would be the longest in the franchise. He is certainly living up to that promise and has dropped the first bit of news for this week, which has been dubbed “Wick Week.” Lionsgate revealed during the Super Bowl that the studio would be releasing news related to the new movie via posters, teasers, and more.
John Wick 4 continues the story of the now sullied John Wick, who has been unceremoniously “killed” by Winston of the New York Continental. The last that we saw John Wick, he was attempting to get back into the good graces of the High Table and saw the Elder ask for Winton to be killed for John’s transgressions to be absolved. Instead of obeying orders, John defended Winston and the Continental, leading to Wintson pretending to kill him instead.
Now that John is on the run once again, he must take his fight even higher, and go after the most brutal adversaries the High Table has produced. John Wick 4 is bringing in plenty of new faces, including Bill Skarsgard, who says that his villain (The Marquis) is going to be the biggest test for John Wick. Also, we have seen in the trailers that John is battling Donnie Yen’s Caine, and we are not sure yet if they are friends or foes.
Returning in John Wick 4, apart from Keanu Reeves, is Lawrence Fishburne as The Bowery King, Lance Reddick as Charon, and Ian McShane as Winston. The new John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, is also set to premiere this year, so that could mean that Angelic Houston will return as The Director. It would also be a surprise if Ana de Armas were to appear for a cameo in the new movie to set up her starring role in the spinoff.
Lionsgate has been testing a ton of clock imagery for the new chapter, which could mean that John Wick is running out of time in John Wick 4, or it’s time for him to kill everyone in sight. The latter is usually true for his movies, so we are certainly hoping for an action-packed affair, which has been proven enough by the trailer.
John Wick 4 will officially release on March 24, 2023. Keanu Reeves has openly stated he would be up for making a ridiculous number of sequels, and we fans would certainly welcome more John Wick action. We cannot wait to see what happens in this next sequel, and we hope that the movie is going to show us more inventive gunplay from the world’s most dangerous assassin.
