Fantastic Four Nabs One Of The Best Character Actors Ever
John Malkovich has joined the already-stacked cast of the MCU’s The Fantastic Four film. His character hasn’t been revealed, but fan speculation is sure to run rampant until it is. While Marvel has been known to cast great character actors in bit roles, hopefully, Malkovich ends up being a major player in the MCU going forward.
The Rest Of The Cast
John Malkovich joins other recently announced The Fantastic Four cast members Paul Walter Hauser and Julia Garner. Like Malkovich, Hauser’s role remains a mystery, but Garner was revealed to be playing Shalla-Bal, one of the characters who has taken on the mantle of the Silver Surfer. Since the Silver Surfer is the herald of the planet-devouring Galactus, many are assuming that Galactus will either appear in the film or be teased as a major villain for the Avengers.
Galactu-Vich?
Since it seems likely that Galactus would be a CGI character similar to Thanos, it’s entirely possible that John Malkovich or Paul Walter Hauser could take on the role of one of Marvel’s most powerful villains. Neither really fit the role of Dr. Doom, who many fans are hoping makes an appearance in Fantastic Four. It’s also highly likely that Malkovich’s role won’t be nearly as big as someone as heavy-hitting as Galactus.
The First Family Of Marvel
Along with John Malkovich, Paul Walter Hauser, and Julia Garner, Marvel also revealed the main cast of The Fantastic Four with an epic Valentine’s post on social media. We know that Pedro Pascal is playing Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby is playing Sue Storm/the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn is playing Johnny Storm/the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is playing Ben Grimm/the Thing. Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps for now, but the cast reveal has made some fans speculate that the film takes place earlier in the MCU timeline, somewhere in the 1960s.

Regardless of who he ends up playing, John Malkovich’s casting in The Fantastic Four is certainly reason for excitement, and the film is gradually becoming one of the most hyped upcoming entries to the MCU. As for who’s behind the camera, Matt Shakman is directing from a script by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Shakman is best known for his work on one of the best Marvel Disney+ shows, WandaVision.
Malkovich’s Other Work
While we wait to see John Malkovich in The Fantastic Four, the acclaimed actor has plenty of upcoming projects to check out. Most recently, he starred in the Apple TV+ series The New Look, which aired its season finale last month. You can also look forward to seeing Malkovich in the upcoming A24 horror film In the Hand of Dante, which also stars Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Gerard Butler Gal Gadot, Sabrina Impacciatore, Franco Nero, and Al Pacino.
It’s possible that Marvel will keep John Malkovich’s role in The Fantastic Four under wraps for quite some time, depending on who he’s playing.
