John Krasinski has provided the first look of the set for A Quiet Place: Day One on Instagram.
Production on A Quiet Place: Day One has officially begun, and to mark the occasion, John Krasinski shared a few photos from the set featuring director Michael Sarnoski and star Lupita Nyong’o. “Requisite photo of slate on day 1… This time with a twist,” the 43-year-old wrote on Instagram. “So honored to be there…Cannot wait to see what magic they conjure in this one!”
Naturally, fans rushed to the comments section to share their excitement about A Quiet Place: Day One. “This is happening!!” one person wrote. While others on Instagram simply shared heart and fire emojis.
Folks on Twitter were a little more vocal about the film with reactions ranging from “Can’t wait” to “This is gonna be epic. As a film kid, I hope to be as great as you one day.”
Development of A Quiet Place: Day One began at Paramount Pictures in November 2022. Based on an original idea by Krasinski, the film is directed by Michael Sarnoski from a script he co-wrote with Jeff Nichols. The project serves as a spin-off prequel and the third overall installment of the A Quiet Place franchise and is scheduled for release on March 8, 2024
Starring alongside Lupita Nyong’o in A Quiet Place: Day One is Alex Wolff of Hereditary fame and Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn. While plot details are still scarce, A Quiet Place: Day One is expected to follow new characters during the initial days of the alien invasion that would spin humanity into an apocalyptic state, Collider reports.
Long before A Quiet Place: Day One, the flagship movie was written and directed by John Krasinski. Released in 2018, the story follows Lee and Evelyn Abbot as they struggle to raise their children and survive in a post-apocalyptic world. To make matters worse, the planet is inhabited by blind monsters with an acute sense of hearing.
A Quiet Place earned over $340 million at the global box office and received critical acclaim following its release. The film was described as a smart, wickedly frightening good time by review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. It was chosen as one of the top 10 films of 2018 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute and received several award nominations.
This included a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Emily Blunt. The astounding success of the film led to A Quiet Place II and soon the spin-off A Quiet Place: Day One. The former still chronicled the Abbott family who are forced to leave the safety of their home.
Along their journey, they realize the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the dangerous sand path.
Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures is also developing A Quiet Place Part III with Krasinski serving as writer and director. The movie will see Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe reprise their roles from the second installment. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2025.
