Legendary wrestler turned actor and former host of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, John Cena, is set to return for a WWE Smackdown appearance for the final Smackdown event of 2022. Despite the ongoing refrain that he cannot be seen, fans will once again be seeing John Cena grace the stage to close out the year on December 30th at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Fans are sure to be gripping the edges of their seats in the hopes that the famed Peacemaker actor will engage in physical combat this time around, as Cena’s previous WWE appearance back in June, which celebrated his 20th anniversary with the company, only allowed for a brief speaking engagement.

In an exclusive report for Variety, 16 time WWE world champ John Cena is reported to make his long awaited return to the wrestling ring to cap off 2022 with a steal chair bang, presumably leaving fans everywhere to shout with joy. The former wrestler has had an incredibly active career after retiring from the ring, most notably starring in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and its subsequent spinoff series Peacemaker, which opened on HBO Max in January to rave reviews, and is set to premiere its second season some time in 2023, likely after the release of Gunn’s final MCU installment, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3. Cena also appeared in such films as the Peacock political thriller The Independent, as well as the Netflix original comedy The Bubble.

The star also has a lot of irons in the fire with unreleased films such as Fast X, the tenth installment in The Fast and The Furious franchise, in which John Cena portrays the long lost brother of Vin Diesel’s Dom Turetto, as well as an upcoming Warner Brothers comedy called Coyote Vs. Acme, which sees Wile E. Coyote suing the ACME corporation for selling him so many malfunctioning roadrunner traps. John Cena has also gained a host of notoriety outside of his role in the WWE for his contributions to meme culture, through his infamous “You can’t see me” tagline, as well as his classic theme tune which was famously used in a viral online prank call, but fans of Cena’s work will rejoice at the opportunity to see him put his humongous muscles to good use back in the ring.

In addition to his contributions to film, television, wrestling, and culture, John Cena has also set a Guinness world record for most Make-A-Wish moments granted, showing that this WWE star refuses to sit still for even a moment, and his commitment to his fans can’t be knocked out. Variety states through an unnamed inside source that new updates are coming just around the corner, but with December 30th rapidly approaching, all fans need to know is where to tune in!
