Jessica Alba just nabbed a Netflix deal where she’ll be starring in and executive producing a thrilled called Confessions on the 7:45. The series will be based on a book by Lisa Unger of the same name. Charise Castro Smith is currently attached to pen the adaptation.
The book tells the story of a working mother whose life is changed when she meets a stranger on a train. The character’s life begins to unravel and fall apart as secrets, lies, and more come to the surface. Jessica Alba stated her excitement about the project, saying how she couldn’t put the book down. Confessions on the 7:45 marks the most recent project announced for Alba, but she has another project coming up sooner called Trigger Warning.
Clearly, Netflix and Alba are ready to put out more content together, as Trigger Warning will also be a Netflix feature. Trigger Warning follows Jessica Alba as a veteran who inherits her grandfather’s bar and learns a disturbing truth about his unexpected death. That film is directed by Mouly Surya and co-stars Anthony Michael Hall, Mark Webber, Jake Weary, Gabriel Basso, Tone Bell, and more. Trigger Warning is expected to come out sometime in 2022.
Confessions on the 7:45 doesn’t have a release date yet, but presumably, we’ll learn more in the near future. Jessica Alba and Charise Castro Smith should make for an exciting combination. Castro Smith will be acting as the showrunner in addition to her exec producing and adaptation work. Her most recent credit includes the Disney hit Encanto.
For fans of Jessica Alba, this new influx of roles has certainly been an exciting development. The actress has been in films here and there since founding The Honest Company in 2012. The Honest Company focuses on creating eco-friendly products and has undoubtedly taken up a lot of Alba’s time, so she hasn’t taken on as many roles as she used to. However, she’s had a pretty consistent record of gracing our screens after staring in the Spectrum series L.A.’s Finest in 2019. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more of Alba’s acting in the near future.
Jessica Alba’s work on L.A.’s Finest wasn’t an immediate hit when it hit the Spectrum network, but it has fared considerably better when it started streaming on Netflix. Charise Castro Smith is also familiar with Netflix success, as she won an award for her work on The Haunting of Hill House. Of course, the aforementioned Encanto also won an Oscar recently, so maybe Charise Castro Smith will provide some award-winning material for Netflix again. With the talents of Alba and Castro Smith, it’s sure to be an interesting project.
In addition to Jessica Alba and Charise Castro Smith’s contributions, Confessions on the 7:45 will be executive produced by Michael Rotenberg and Oly Obst of 3 Art. There is no current news on a release date for the series and no cast details yet, other than Alba. Stay tuned, as there is sure to be more news about Confessions on the 7:45 on the horizon.
