Jeremy Renner Was Convinced He Would Die After Accident, Wrote Goodbye Note To Family
Jeremy Renner crafted a goodbye note on his phone after he was rushed to the hospital following his snowplow accident.
For many, it’s not easy to open up about traumatic events, but there is inherent value in sharing your story if it could help others cope with similar hardships. In the case of Jeremy Renner, he has pulled back the curtain to talk about his snowplow accident that occurred on New Year’s Day, which left him in critical condition. The man behind Hawkeye explained to Diane Sawyer that he even wrote a goodbye note to his family when he was in critical condition, not knowing for sure whether he’d survive his injuries, or succumb to them.
Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph, will air on April 6, 2023, and Jeremy Renner can be seen holding back tears when he reveals his lowest point while recovering from the snow plow incident. For those who are unaware, Renner was run over by his Sno-Cat (a 14,330-pound vehicle) while trying to rescue his nephew and sustained a laundry list of life-threatening injuries in the process. While his nephew was safely removed from the situation, Renner was found in critical condition and had doubts about whether he would survive the ordeal or not.
Diane Sawyer reads off a list of the injuries sustained to an emotional Jeremy Renner, which include “eight ribs broken in 14 places. Right knee, right ankle broken, left leg tibia broken, left ankle broken, right clavicle broken, right shoulder broken. Face, eye socket, jaw, mandible broken. Lung collapsed, pierced from the rib bone, your liver- which sounds terrifying.”
Despite all the obstacles that The Hurt Locker star has endured since New Year’s Day, he seems to be in good spirits, and positive about his recovery. This wasn’t the case when he was still in critical condition, however. Jeremy Renner can be seen choking up when starting to read the goodbye note he drafted to his family, when he said “I’m writing down notes in my phone to – last words to my family…”
Luckily, Jeremy Renner is on the road to recovery from his life-threatening injuries, but will see himself committing to a rigorous regimen of physical therapy, electric stimulation machines, and working out with resistance bands. Despite all of the physical and emotional hardships Renner has endured, and will continue to endure, he is in good spirits.
Though Jeremy Renner thought he was checking out for good while he was at the hospital, he’s been recovering in the comfort of his own home since January 17, 2023. He has also been sharing his recovery on his Twitter page, stating “I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will.” Renner can be seen walking on a specialized treadmill talking with his physical therapist, and it looks to us that he’s putting his work in!
For those of you who are worried about when you’ll see Jeremy Renner back in action, you’ll be relieved to know that his upcoming documentary mini-series, Rennervations will premiere on April 12, 2023 on Disney+. The four-part series was recorded before his accident and will follow Renner in his journey to rebuild de-commissioned vehicles to help serve communities in need. Renner has gone on record stating that the concept behind Rennervations has been a driving force in his recovery and that he’s beyond excited to share it with the world.
