Jeremy Renner Refuses To Watch One Marvel Movie Because It’s Too Painful
There's one Marvel movie Jeremy Renner refuses to watch!
It has been a decade since Jeremy Renner first donned the Hawkeye costume but the actor shows no indication of slowing down. Renner has been making the press rounds and revealed an interesting bit of information. Many fans wept at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame and all the way through it. Renner acknowledges the emotional toll it took on him and says he isn’t likely to watch the film again.
“I can’t,” Jeremy Renner said simply in an interview with BBC Radio 1. “I will never watch that again. It was a difficult experience. We were a sobbing mess.” Renner goes on to say that it was a beautiful experience to watch it with the entire cast. These are actors he has worked alongside for a decade. Extreme emotional reactions are to be expected. Renner states in the interview that he never intended to be portraying the character and wearing tights for this long.
But now raising his eight year old daughter, Jeremy Renner is looking at his role as Hawkeye in a different light. He enjoys the exposure as it connects him with his daughter Ava. The actor’s commitment to raising her is evident in recent news. With the rigorous filming schedule on the set of Thor, Renner had been having difficulty spending time with his daughter. According to the Daily Mail, the actor told producers to recast him if they wouldn’t allow him to see her. Now ten years later, he continues to find joy in playing Hawkeye. Particularly because it does connect him with his daughter. “It’s all about the kids. That’s the coolest thing ever,” Renner stated in the BBC Radio 1 interview. “Jem from The Town isn’t going to do that for the kids on the playground.” Renner refers to his role as a bank robber in Ben Affleck’s 2011 film for which was nominated for an Academy award. He was also nominated for bomb defuser in Kathryn Bigelow’s drama The Hurt Locker. While Renner didn’t win for his role, The Hurt Locker swept the Oscars that year.
Avengers: Endgame concluded a long phase in the MCU. Jeremy Renner has not been retired like other characters from the film, but has come a long way. Since his first appearance he has helped save the world from aliens, killer robots, and now he is conquering maybe the most difficult foe of all — teaching a young woman to take over his mantle. Disney+’s Hawkeye premiered the first two episodes on Wednesday, November 24th and is the first live action depiction of Young Avenger, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld.) Kate has idolized Hawkeye since she saw him save New York during the Chitauri attack from her penthouse. Now about to graduate college, she has no interest in following her mother Eleanor (Vera Farmiga) into their security firm business. Though already a practiced archer in her own right, Clint has a lot to teach her.
Disney+ has been giving screen time to many underutilized characters in the MCU. Wanda was able to experience her grief in WandaVision. Loki will be returning to a second season. Now Hawkeye is able to get the screen time that he was sorely missing in the franchise films. Audience members can watch Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld on Hawkeye, streaming on Disney+.
