Jeremy Renner In Critical Condition After Snow Plow Accident
Jeremy Renner is in the hospital in critical condition following a snow-plowing accident in Nevada.
Jeremy Renner was hospitalized over the weekend after being injured while plowing snow. According to The Direct, the Hawkeye star was airlifted to a nearby hospital following the accident. He was in “critical but stable condition,” a spokesperson for the actor said on Sunday. They also added that he is surrounded by family, and the hospital staff is taking great care of him.
Deadline was the first to report that Jeremy Renner was involved in a snow-related accident. The Reno Gazette-Journal reported on the incident shortly after, saying the actor has a home near Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, which is located approximately 25 miles from Reno, Nevada. The region was hit by a winter storm on New Year’s Eve that resulted in 35,000 homes across several counties losing power.
Jeremy Renner is undoubtedly best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His first appearance as the master archer was in a brief cameo in 2011’s Thor before being featured much more prominently in The Avengers the following year. The 51-year-old actor most recently played the character in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, which premiered on the streaming service in November 2021.
Before he was cast as an Avenger, where he attempted to save the world from various extraterrestrial threats throughout multiple MCU features, Jeremy Renner received high acclaim for his portrayal of bomb disposal expert, Sergeant William James in the 2008 war thriller The Hurt Locker. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the film won several awards including an Academy Award for Best Picture. Renner also received his first-ever Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his role in the movie.
In 2010, Jeremy Renner turned in another Academy Award-nominated performance in the Ben Affleck-directed crime drama The Town. He played the character James Coughlin in the film, a man with a dangerous temper, who takes an employee hostage following a bank robbery. Ben Affleck also starred in the movie alongside Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm, Blake Lively, and Owen Burke.
Since then, Jeremy Renner has appeared in over a dozen high-profile features including Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, American Hustle, and Arrival. In 2012, he gave Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne a much-needed break when he headlined The Bourne Legacy. The film follows another Treadstone operative, Aaron Cross, who is also being targeted by the CIA.
The actor is currently starring in the crime series Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount+. Jeremy Renner plays Mike McLusky on the show, which was co-created by Taylor Sheridan. The first season premiered on November 14, 2021, and the second season is set to debut later this month.
Mayor of Kingstown centers on the McLusky family in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. The family is made up of brothers Mike (Jeremy Renner), Mitch (Kyle Chandler), and Kyle (Taylor Handley), as well as their mom Mariam (Dianne Wiest). They are power brokers between police, criminals, inmates, prison guards, and politicians tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality.
Our thoughts are with Jeremy Renner and his family during this difficult time. Although it’s hard to imagine ringing in the new year from a hospital bed, things could certainly be a lot worse for the star. We’re hoping the actor is able to make a speedy recovery.
