Jeopardy! has been going through a sea of changes in recent years. The major one is the passing of its beloved and longtime host Alex Trebek, who passed away from pancreatic cancer back in 2020. In fact, 2020 was a rough year for the show as a whole – and the rest of the world for that matter. Due to COVID-19, like many other productions that were previously filmed in front of a live studio audience, the question-based game show had to bid farewell to its guests and carry on without them. However, with pandemic-based restrictions finally beginning to lift, fans are lining up to get their chance to join the studio audience for what will be the show’s 39th season. But, in the world of Jeopardy!, it seems that when things appear to return to normal, something else is pulled away.
It was recently revealed that the fan favorite and game famous Jeopardy Clue Crew has disbanded from the series. For those not hip to Jeopardy! lingo, the Clue Crew was a group of four people who would travel the world and help Alex Trebek announce clues from various categories. Videoing in, audiences would catch the team from all pockets of the world in countries including South Africa and Russia and company headquarters like Tesla and Anheuser-Busch. The news comes as a blow to not only fans but to those like Jimmy McGuire who has served on the country hopping team for over two decades.
In a recent Twitter post, McGuire shared photos of himself live at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where he would be sharing clues for the final time based around the speedster sport of NASCAR. In his tweet, which you can see below, McGuire threw in several autocross-themed puns and spoke about how thankful he was for his long run on Jeopardy! While he won’t be jet-setting around the world anymore, McGuire will continue to work with the production as the show’s stage manager. Like McGuire, fellow Clue Crew alum, Sarah Whitcomb Foss, will continue with the long-running series as its producer.
Please tune-in today/tonight as I take my “final lap as a proud 21 year member of the @Jeopardy #cluecrew bringing you @NASCAR clues from @LVMotorSpeedway! It’s been one heck of a ride and I am@so grateful! pic.twitter.com/N0rYNNKwxc

With changes popping out from every corner, another recent announcement came that Jeopardy! had finally settled on its new host – er – hosts. After a years-long back and forth that saw the arrival and departure of Mike Richards, who was ousted as host after sexist and offensive comments he made in the past found their way back to the surface, the series finally announced that they would move forward with co-hosts Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik. The time in between Trebek and the show’s new hosts also saw a slew of celebrity guests helming the show including the likes of LeVar Burton, Katie Couric, and Anderson Cooper.
Now that Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik are finally settling in, knowing that they are the official hosts, with audiences returning to the seats of Jeopardy!, hopefully, things will be moving along easily. While we’ll miss the Clue Crew, we can still expect to see and hear from guests and celebrities pop up to read off those incredibly helpful clues.
