See Jensen Ackles As The Boys New Superhero
With The Boys Season Two having just concluded, an artist on Twitter has created what they imagine Jensen Ackles will look like in Season Three.

Even before The Boys’ latest acclaimed season, it was announced that following a fifteen-year run on Supernatural, Jensen Ackles would be joining the third season of Soldier Boy. Not knowing when the third season will come out, one artist has created her idea of what she thinks the upcoming Soldier Boy will look like.
Esther Viola, or @EstherDraws on Twitter, has created the drawing below, showing Jensen Ackles dressed as Soldier Boy, complete with blue-and-red mask, and a shield adorned with a golden eagle.
Even for those not familiar with The Boys, this image should hint at what to expect from the character, considering that Soldier Boy is essentially a parody of Captain America. Soldier Boy is called the original superhero and was on a team known as Payback. The team contained such members as Tek Knight, Swatto, Eagle the Archer, Crimson Countess, and Stormfront, who was introduced in Season Two and played by Aya Cash. Many of the characters on Payback have already been referenced in some way or another in The Boys’ first two seasons. Jensen Ackles’ casting as Soldier Boy allows The Boys to dig deeper into the history of superheroes and their origins.
Soldier Boy was turned into the first Supe to assist the Allies in World War II, and is known for “killing Germans by the dozen.” Considering The Boys’ way of twisting what we know from the graphic novel, like gender-swapping Stormfront for Season Two, it’ll be interesting to see if Jensen Ackles’ take on the role will be relatively similar to the character as it is on the page, or if the series will try something completely different with Soldier Boy.
The Boys creator Eric Kripke has already said that Soldier Boy will show us a side of Jensen Ackles that we’ve never seen before, saying that “anyone expecting Jensen to show up and be a good guy, they will be disappointed.” Kripke also says, “he’s from a different era, but he’s got the ego and the ambition – it just comes across in a different way because he’s from a different time.”
Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight, told Entertainment Weekly about the casting of Jensen Ackles, “He’s really talented and he’s perfect for that Captain America-esque role. And that role just seems so interesting and nuanced and dark, true to a lot of character on The Boys. So, I’m just excited to see what he brings. The casting of Jensen Ackles is also a Supernatural reunion of sorts, as Kripke also created Supernatural, which will be ending its run next month.
Jensen Ackles announced the news of his latest casting on Instagram, with a video and caption stating, “I keep wondering what I’ll do….when @cw_supernatural finally ends this year. Then it hit me.”
While not much about The Boys Season Three is known yet, including when we can expect the newest season to drop, there are plenty of rumors to sort through. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has posted that he loves the show and would be willing to “play with that gang anytime,” which Eric Kripke said he’ll write the third season and if Morgan is available, he can come shoot it. Morgan’s involvement with Kripke and Jensen Ackles would bring yet another former Supernatural star into the mix.
It also makes sense to assume that with Jensen Ackles playing a character who fought in World War II that The Boys Season Three will likely spend quite a bit of time in the past as a way to illuminate the present and future for these characters.
There might be quite some wait until we get to see Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy since Season Two just concluded, but it seems safe to say that we will hopefully get to see Season Three of The Boys by the end of next year.
