A recent Jennifer Lopez film is tearing up the streaming charts on Amazon Prime Video. Marry Me is currently the #1 streaming movie on the platform. This wouldn’t be the first time Marry Me had no problem climbing the streaming charts, as it became the most-streamed day-and-date title on Peacock on the day of its release.

Marry Me stars Jennifer Lopez as pop superstar Kat Valdez. In the film, she’s set to marry fellow superstar Bastian (Maluma) on stage. When she learns that Bastian is having an affair with her assistant, Kat calls off the wedding and marries a math teacher (Owen Wilson) in the crowd instead. The movie follows the unlikely romance as the two try to make things work despite their different lifestyles. The movie also stars John Bradley, Sarah Silverman, Chloe Coleman, Michelle Buteau, Khalil Middleton, Kat Cunning, Taliyah Whitaker, Diego Lucano, Brady Noon, Connor Noon, Ryan Foust, Leah Jimenez Zelaya, Tristan-Lee Edwards, Scarlett Earls, and Olivia Chun. Kat Coiro directs the screenplay by John Rogers, Tami Sagher, and Harper Dill.

Marry Me also appeared in theaters alongside its streaming debut. The rom-com didn’t have too much trouble making its $23 million budget, as it ended up pulling in $50.5 million worldwide. The movie was fairly well-received too. Though critics gave it a combined 61% on Rotten Tomatoes, they agreed that the performances and chemistry of Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson made the movie enjoyable. Audiences loved it, with a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. If you’re looking for a light-hearted rom-com with some good music, it seems like this would be the perfect fit for date night.

Speaking of the music, Marry Me the soundtrack managed to do pretty well too. Jennifer Lopez and Maluma recorded the soundtrack, making it J. Lo’s first full-length album since 2014. The album hit #5 on the US Billboard Soundtrack chart, #90 on the Spanish charts, and #135 on the US Billboard 200. The singles included “On My Way” and “Pa’ Ti” which debuted at #9 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs.

While Marry Me is topping the charts on Prime Video, Jennifer Lopez has some other worthwhile projects to check out on other streaming platforms. The most recent being her Halftime documentary on Netflix. Halftime was centered around the Super Bowl halftime show that Jennifer Lopez performed with Shakira. The documentary shows the work that J. Lo put into this performance, but it also gave some insights into her life and career up to that point. In the doc, you get to see J. Lo’s Oscar campaign for her film Hustlers, her experience of being unfairly covered by the media throughout her career, and much more.

Jennifer Lopez’s next project appears to be a more dramatic turn for the multi-talented musician and actor. She’ll be appearing in a film called The Mother where she plays an assassin that comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she left behind. Lopez stars alongside Gael Garcia Bernal, Joseph Fiennes, Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci, Yvonne Senat Jones, Jesse Garcia, and Lucy Paez. Niki Caro directs the screenplay by Andrea Berloff, Peter Craig, and Misha Green. This project is expected to come out before the end of the year on Netflix.

Jennifer Lopez also has an action-comedy in the works called Shotgun Wedding, where a couple finds their destination wedding falling apart when it’s hijacked by criminals. Lopez is co-starring with Josh Duhamel, Jennifer Coolidge, D’Arcy Carden, Callie Hernandez, Desmin Borges, Cheech Martin, Lenny Kravitz, and more. Jason Moore directs the script by Mark Hammer and Elizabeth Meriwether.

Interestingly, Jennifer Lopez also has a project in the works called The Godmother, which tells the story of the rise and fall of the Medellin drug lord Griselda Blanco. There is currently a series in the works that stars Sofia Vergara in the same role, so it will be interesting to see two different takes on this biopic. The Jennifer Lopez version will be directed by Reed Morano who also co-wrote the script with Terence Winter. She also has a sci-fi film in the works called Atlas that is directed by Brad Peyton and written by Aron Eli Coleite. Until then, you can check out Marry Me on Amazon Prime today and see why it’s the #1 streaming movie on the platform.
