Jeff Bezos is one of the richest men on the planet, as he is the CEO of Amazon. Apart from being a premiere delivery service, Amazon Prime Video has also turned into a premiere hub for some of the best shows and films. Bezos is the CEO of the company means that he likely oversees everything, though not likely directly. However, the world was shocked when the man appeared at the global premiere event that was held for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power last night. There Bezos spoke about how he had given notes to the showrunners of the series.

Jeff Bezos did joke about his involvement with the series as he stated, “Every showrunner’s dream is to get notes on early scripts and cuts from the Executive Chairman, they just love that. I want to thank you both for listening whenever it helped but mostly I need to thank you for ignoring me at exactly the right times.” It appears that Bezos took an active interest in the new Lord of the Rings prequel series, and he admitted that his son is a huge fan of Tolkien’s works. In fact, Bezos’s son told him, “Don’t f*** it up.” That is some sound advice. Plenty of people are going to be watching this new series with the hopes that it can breathe new life into a franchise that has been hugely influential for many reasons. The Peter Jackson-led trilogy also won Academy Awards, so those are some huge shoes to fill for this new series.

Jeff Bezos appearing at the premiere for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is likely because Amazon is now in a war with HBO. Both have presented prequel shows based in fantastical lands, and both are likely trying to outdo one another. This new LOTR series is going to have to try extra hard, as House of the Dragon has already premiered to the biggest numbers in HBO history. The 10 million households that watched the premiere made history. The second episode of the prequel also topped that number by 2%, making it secure an even bigger record of not seeing a drop off in viewership. The new LOTR prequel series will be premiering tomorrow on Amazon Prime Video with two episodes. Bezos and the world will be patiently waiting to see how the show is received.

Even though Jeff Bezos is the chairman of Amazon, it’s good that he was ignored by the showrunners of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It’s likely not easy to tell your boss “No” so it makes the creators of this series seem that much braver. Hopefully, their brave antics pay off in the end. Everyone will know tomorrow.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere tomorrow at 9 PM EST for those in the United States. The first two episodes will be available to stream, which is a good marketing tool to have them premiere at night instead of right at midnight when most people are asleep. Jeff Bezos has already seen the episodes, so he knows what is coming. However, for the rest of the world that is waiting to see this new series, the hope is that it is worth the millions of dollars spent to make this show a reality.
